FUCK FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE SAYS IT

I fell in love with 1, adored practically every way 2 iterated on both thematic ideas and mechanics, and then… was kinda underwhelmed with how 3 handled things!

Dark Souls 3 felt like Miyazaki doing a JJ Abrams-esque apology for the Prequels by making the Sequels

Oh for SURE it's not widely held, but stuff like this is getting more common. Maybe more silly people are speaking up now, but like... even how people talked about and handled parts of Silksong is telling for me. Too much friction getting seen as a design mistake and not an act of communication.
I mean is "the soft gating around the catacombs early in DS1 is bad design" really a widely held view though. It feels like maybe this is just one clown with a youtube channel.
