It’s because the rent-a-quote MPs who often spout this stuff have real trouble distinguishing between ‘Westminster’ (SW1 bit with their palace in) & Westminster the borough with 42% of households living in poverty. And also seem to think we can fund social care from the (parking income) roads budget
Not unconnected with previous post- I’d love to show colleagues some of the grinding (often housing related) poverty in Harrow Road and on the Mozart estate, the high levels of mental ill health, the homelessness-and then be told inner London councils could afford to lose shed loads of grant.

The day has finally come - the Renters' Rights Bill has been approved by the House of Commons! This isn't a small achievement, it's a result of years of campaigning and fighting on behalf of the 4.6 million private renting households in England. 1/2

The Conservatives have drafted the legislation.
ANY one of the conditions being met leads to ILR being revoked.
If annual income falls below £38,700 for six months (for any reason at all)
The Secretary of State would also have the powers add whatever further conditions they want.
