Since the ban on ‘no fault’ evictions was first promised in 2019, over 100,000 private tenants have had their lives torn up by a Section 21 eviction.

Renters need to know when the ban will actually come into force. It can't come soon enough.

"It is the first moment in my lifetime that I am aware of a piece of legislation materially impacting my life in a positive way."

The Renters' Rights Act will make a huge difference to private renters across England - we're proud to have played a part.

The Renters Rights Act received Royal Assent this week.

It was great to celebrate this watershed moment with members of our renters group at the Renters' Reform Coalition event in Parliament yesterday.

We had a fantastic time marking the passing of the Renters' Rights Act at our event in Parliament yesterday 🎉

It was a chance for renters, politicians, and colleagues across the housing sector to celebrate the monumental wins we've fought for over many years.

When you spend all your time fighting inequality, and you get a win, it's so important to take a moment to celebrate! 🎊

Delighted to join Housing Select Committee chair Florence Eshalomi (another rent controls supporter), @rentersreformco.bsky.social & friends to celebrate the #RentersRightsAct!

"You see people claiming that this Bill is bringing in rent controls by the back door - it's complete nonsense."

If renters can't challenge them, extreme rent increases will just become the new section 21. The new Renters' Rights Act will give them this right.

Today, the end of no-fault evictions, a new landlord database, and greater rights for tenants to challenge huge rent hikes are enshrined in law.

While we still don't know when these changes will actually come into force, this is a huge milestone for private renters in England.

🚨BREAKING NEWS: we've won!

Last night, the Renters' Rights Act finally became law of the land.

This is the moment we've been waiting for. Soon, landlords will be banned from evicting tenants for no reason.

A new era for renters' rights begins now!
October 28, 2025 at 9:09 AM
Many private renters live in damp and mouldy homes - one in five of which don't meet the decent homes standard.

The Government must announce the date for Awaab's Law to be extended to the private rented sector ASAP.
October 27, 2025 at 11:35 AM
These figures are indefensible.

Although the Renters' Rights Act will make a huge difference to renters' lives, those who are worst off still don't have enough to live on.

Rachel Reeves should commit to unfreezing Local Housing Allowance in next month's Budget.
Rents have increased by a fifth in recent years since Local Housing Housing allowance was frozen, up £210 a month!!

The strain of this freeze on private renters is immense; in April around 40% of private renters in receipt of LHA said they didn't have enough to cover rent.

Our coalition of housing organisations has campaigned tirelessly over five years for the monumental changes secured in the Renters' Rights Bill.

This is what's possible when we work together 💪

The Renters' Rights Bill has been APPROVED by the House of Commons!

This is the final step before the Bill receives Royal Assent, which we expect shortly.

No more amendments, no more debate - renters' rights are coming.

The number of homeless children is now almost enough to fill Wembley Stadium twice over.

Shockingly, one in five families in temporary accommodation have been there for five years or more.

We need urgent action to make renting more affordable.

🚨GREAT NEWS FOR RENTERS🚨

Last night, we defeated last-ditch amendments that would have weakened tenants' rights and shifted power back towards landlords.

The Bill now just needs sign-off from the Commons (and the King) before becoming the Renters' Rights Act!
October 15, 2025 at 9:15 AM
For too long, section 21 has meant many tenants fear eviction simply for asking for repairs - as @darlingtom.bsky.social says, "England has the weakest tenant protections in all of Europe".

The Renters' Rights Bill cannot come soon enough.
