Really, seriously: Please do shop around for presses committed to using human hands in book and journal production (there are lots like MHRA still holding that necessary line). You're going to have a *much* better publishing experience that way.
Publish your monograph or scholarly edition or journal article with @themhra.bsky.social! Human copy-editors and typesetters only.
Speaking of which:
We at Fortress Press are eager to read (with human eyes 👀) proposals including but not limited to:
late antique and medieval Christian history;
Jewish Studies;
Islamic Studies;
and Religious Studies broadly conceived.
Please reach out if you’re working on a project!

Admittedly I’m reading this with the present moment constantly in the middle distance of my imagination, but this history seems like the better point of comparison for us than the one that more often tends to be used

Doesn’t even feel nice that he’s gone. We live in the world he helped create. He won.
Dick Cheney has died at age 84. He was "the most powerful vice president in American history" and left behind a "destructive" legacy in the United States, the Middle East and beyond, says John Nichols.

Have heard the same through the grapevine. People who have worked with him really do not like him. Seems not ideal
Mayor Jacob Frey also does not treat people with basic respect, making it almost impossible to work with him. A very common experience I’ve heard from multiple council members is that you only get a call from the mayor when he’s calling to yell at you.

Really is striking how many of the Trump administration’s worst excesses are grounded in expansions of Obama and Bush-era policies.
Sadly vindicating for those who argued at the time that these were creating dangerous precedents.

🧵 Trump admin is "doing a Libya"—claiming that US maritime strikes don't constitute "hostilities" under the War Powers Resolution and thus that law's 60-day limit on hostilities doesn't apply.
