Sorry everyone, you're basically gonna have to live with me posting old art for a while since I only have the energy to do new work about once a year. Anyway, here is me sacrificing some poor souls for inspiration.

Just repeating it because some are repeating Microsoft's lies unquestioningly about them having to cut people to save money, etc.

Their gaming division was 26 *billion* USD in the black. They had just posted record revenue. They were swimming in money.

But Microsoft wants to invest *80bn* in AI.

New from me, on The Guardian (!!): Generative AI is causing new, unusual problems for game developers — people are being accused of using it, even when they say they haven't. Building trust between a studio and its player base is more important than ever.

A real issue: video game developers are being accused of using AI – even when they aren’t

I’m watching a board game video for a new game, and surprise! Art I did 15yrs ago for an older game is featured in this new game. While I’m flattered, obviously I didn’t get paid for the card I probably got $100 back in the day. Anyway, this a cautionary tale for why work for hire sucks people.

I'm sharing my contract template with simplified language and easy to fill in sections

This will be most helpful for smaller clients bc corps have their own contracts

It's been a while since I've done a commission, but I'm delighted to be working again for a musical artist, Marian Tem. It was a real pleasure to work with Marian, who gave me a lot of freedom to interpret his music in an illustration. So many thanks to him for his trust

1/4 Well look at that. Open Ai and Google outright reject “Opt-Out” models, hell they even reject basic transparency requirements.

AI companies demand they get everything, including our Intellectual Property, for free, and without anyone ever being able to tell the companies no.
AI giants reject government’s approach to solving copyright row
OpenAI and Google have objected to Labour’s proposed opt-out model and pushed for broader exemptions to let AI software use copyrighted material free

It's true.
fun fact: if you draw fanart for a game within the first week of any sort of major PR event for it (announcement, demo, release etc) there is a 99% chance the entire dev team on the game knows who you are because they are doing nothing but reposting fanart in slack

As someone who’s been very into knitting the last few years this is a really interesting thread
I can. In fact, the Canadian version is so great, I can't think of an American equivalent. 🧵

Okay revised the starter pack description to make it clearer.

If u r a designer or illustrator please boost this to help me find other hiring directors.

If u r an art, design, or creative director who hires designers and/or illustrators, raise your hand—I’ll add u.

Right? I’d move if I could but with many game industry companies going back on their remote promises, I become very distrustful if me or my partner have to look for work outside of an industry “hub”.
I am BEGGING people in blue states to not say sweeping cruel things abt those of us living in red states trying really fking hard to oppose all of this shit. Some of the shit people say is so demoralizing & there are literally millions of us in each state trying to make meaningful change.
