My broken record opinion on immigration is that everyone wants Biden/Obama policy and think that’s what Trump was going to give them.
Maybe I'm not an expert on the psychology of suburban NextDoor voters, but I do think one thing is that they are easily scared and don't like feeling scared. And seeing this activity around Charlotte is scaring people, even folks who aren't going to be impacted.

Can anyone that thinks like this explain to me what fighting looks like?
The sooner we get past internal recriminations and back to fighting united, the better off we all are — the likelier our victory next November.

The agreement to hold a vote on ACA subsidies is not a concession. It's worth literally nothing. It should be ignored when evaluating the merits of the deal
Sanders: That is a totally meaningless gesture. You can get 100 votes here and it won't mean anything because the House is not going to take it up.

Chris Murphy: "There will be pretty substantial damage to a Dem brand that has been rehabilitated if on the heels of an election in which the people told us to keep fighting, we immediately stop... if we surrender without having gotten anything, I worry it'll be hard to get them back up off the mat"

This is a bad deal for Americans.

Voters turned out in record numbers last wk to elect Democrats believing they would fight for working families.

We urge Senate Dems to vote NO on the reported GOP budget package, which fails to address the devastating health care crisis.

Not that he didn’t already know, but now Trump knows for sure he can roll the Dems every time and there’s no need to negotiate for anything

Our side was in the moral right, underlined by last week’s blowout elections, yet these senators caved. Just unbelievable. 40 days wasted. The suffering was for nothing.

I’m a firm believer that *dO soMeThinG* is stupid. Dems hold very little institutional power and elections have consequences *however* this is one of the few times they actually do have some power, and they just proved that they won’t use it, even when it’s working for them.
You don't have to blame any of this on Democrats. Literally none of this is the Democrats fault.

The 2024 election was not a binding referendum on American culture that everyone must accept and accommodate. Never was.

I think Vance is quietly furious that he married his wife because he thought it would give him diversity points and now that he’s shifted grifts it counts against him.
Yeah, they big fuckin.

There’s really been a quiet civil war in the GOP since Goldwater between that wing of the party and the sort of fiscally conservative/socially liberal country club wing of the party(think Bushes) that bubbled up with Reagan but got calmed down again before finally winning after 2012.
This kind of thing is why I'll never fully trust George Conway, no matter how left he might post.

I’m not a chart guy but I think it’s probably stupid to assume Beshear or Shapiro are strong candidates because of how they perform in their BS metric here. Are these guys aware that KY is statistically very different from the US as a whole?
Some funny stuff in here

What’s even the point of this clarification? Does he want a performative throat clearing of the ACA about how awful it is before someone goes “and that’s why we shouldn’t let republicans make it worse” every time?

People defend the ACA because it’s a huge improvement over what there was before.
bluesky is an even weirder place than twitter. does my post say we should repeal Obamacare

no

does it say that the institutionalist instinct to devote so much emotion to defense of it rather than sympathizing with what it didnt/still has not fixed (for many) is misplaced?

yes. and i stand by that
this dickhead didn’t post this to bsky, but fuck you @talsmith.bsky.social . this legislation saved my life. condescending piece of shit.

I just need someone to tell me what they should be doing here to capitalize on the moment here. This isn’t even a defense of the leaders we do have on the Dem side, because I don’t think they’ve done a great job here. But what do you think they can do here?
The sheer size of the No Kings protests has been matched only by the Democratic Party’s utter failure to harness or capitalize on them in any meaningful way.

Republicans have gerrymandered themselves into a position where the only political threat they face is an even further right lunatic primary-ing them, the general election is a foregone conclusion. The downside here is none of them are actually good at governing, because they don’t have to be.
I wouldn't get ahead of ourselves yet but what has essentially happened here is that the pursuit of the skillset required and valued to become a rising star in conservative media has driven the skillset required to be a ruthlessly effective evil administrator to near extinction
It’s been one of the things that gives me hope. They’re genuinely too incompetent to achieve their goals.

Can you think of a single movie in which there is a video from the government denouncing its political opponents playing on a loop in public spaces in which that government was the good guy?
A new Noem video is being played at airports trashing Democrats.

My opinion after 2016-2018 was that this is all very bad, but we can fix it. After ACB confirmation I thought things were significantly worse, but a strong push for court reform could turn things around.
Bounce back, no

I'm not as convinced as I was in November-January that we'll go full 1990s Russia, primarily because these people are totally f*cking incompetent. But the damage they cause will take generations to fix

Once again I’m trying to figure out if I’ve just come around on the idea of cashing out my 401k and living in a one room cabin off the grid because I’m going insane or if the world is actually getting to that point.

In case you’re being sincere it’s because republicans in congress have no plans that involve passing legislation that requires 60 votes in the senate and democratic plans do. If you want to show me a republican bill in P2025 that’s been passed go ahead, nearly all of it is done administratively.

At least if it’s smoldering wreckage it can’t kill anymore friendly troops, which is the thing it’s best at.
Cult of the Warrior only works if the Operators can see and cheer the plane giving them air support. Even if that platform is a smoking wreck on the ground a la enemy AA 5 seconds later
