The problem with this piece, like all the other pieces, is that the missing hed, dek, & lede is that all of this was wildly illegal, unconstitutional, & criminal. This is how you normalize lawless authoritarianism - treat like just another story in our politics. “Transformation” is lazy euphemism.
This WaPo piece weaves together an incredibly powerful story about the way Trump has devastated government and the dedicated people who wake up every day to serve the public. wapo.st/4b14KAy

How DOGE and the White House carried out a once-unthinkable transformation of the nation’s sprawling bureaucracy.

What gets me about executives at movie/videogame studios being taken aback at consumer backlash to AI is that they seem genuinely surprised that we like the human beings that make the things that we like

This is incredible news. Today, Virginia officials will unveil a statue of Barbara Johns at the Capitol to replace one of Confederate General Robert E. Lee that had stood for more than a century. www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/202...
Statue of Black teen who fought segregation replaces Robert E. Lee at U.S. Capitol
Barbara Rose Johns was only 16 when she led a walkout in 1951 to protest horrendous conditions at her segregated high school for Black students in rural Farmville, Virginia.

I understand that time is a construct and days move into each other with no care for the boundaries we have set in order to count them. Tomorrow is built from a 1000 yesterdays, not from its arbitrary designation on a calendar. But nevertheless - fuck 2025.

I don’t know how to process the horrific fire hose of tragedy that has been omnipresent but has spiked this weekend, and I suspect I’m not alone. We aren’t meant to carry this much suffering and be able to function at “normal” capacity. Be gentle with yourself and others, if you can.

Well. Got basically...nothing? South of Midnight has a confirmed PS5 port early next year. They announced a new Star Wars game, but it's The Old Republic, not the Jedi series (will still be playing, I think). And E33 shadowdropped its DLC.
We’re a week out from The Game Awards, and instead of a bingo card, I decided to make a wishlist, of sorts. I’ll follow up after to see which, if any, of these things I get.

Posting this little 2 minute masterpiece again.

It's a French supermarket Christmas ad. It's everything that McDonalds ad is not. I prefer human art and creativity over whatever the fuck that was. If that makes me a luddite and anti-tech then a] so be it and b] kindly fuck off.

This is quite a thing from the people who brought you a copyright extension act that strains the rule against perpetuities. Actual human artists can't tell stories with your characters for decades to come, but Sam Altman's toy can put them into porn, no problem.

The reason the judiciary functions is because judges understand that despite everyone being human beings who hold grudges and have stupid opinions and peccadilloes and flaws, there is a sense that you have to justify what you're doing on more than "because I say so."

This Court is undermining that.

what do you MEAN I'm supposed to do work now, isn't everyone off until the new year

I restarted my router and kept doing the setup process over and over and over again. It failed several more times. And then randomly worked? I don't fucking know anymore. I hate technology. Especially printers. Printers can burn in the fiery depths of Hell.
Unless I can somehow beat this printer into reconnecting to the wifi it's stopped recognizing for no reason (I have tried every bit of troubleshooting - none of it has worked), I am never buying another HP product again. Dad got me this one just over a year ago as a gift. And. Yeah.
