Well, an acquaintance who relies on the ACA marketplace for insurance just received a notice explaining that their fee for coverage will be rising. Right now they pay $180 a month. The new price?

Since it's election day, id like to share one of my favorite election day story.
It revolves around Mary McLeod Bethune. Born in 1875, Bethune had dreams of being an educator. And in 1904, she opened a school for Black girls in Daytona Beach, Florida.
But Bethune was more than an educator

This is desert storm III - this time the genuinely hated invasion force gets to sleep at home.
After Bass spoke with what I assume is a DHS rep, they packed shit up and headed out. The whole neighborhood turned out to chase them out of the park. Some fruit was thrown, alot of yelling

I’m not sure why Gavin Newsome doesn’t activate the rest of his army guard to prevent the president from it or force him to overrule it…. Then fight on the second amendment guaranteeing a state a right to a militia. How can a state have a militia if the president can simply federalize it

i think this is smart. but for those inside unions that won't organize logistics workers, what is the "do this"? Also, this model has a potentially fatal problem: the eternal tension btwn serving the members you have & organizing the people you should have. no union survives w/o pt. 1

There is an impirtant distinction in the labor movement that explains how different unions are approching this moment. It isn't the traditional divide: do you (a) join the union and then get the job or (b) get the job and then join the union. That matters. A lot. but there is a second distinction.

I don’t know how we get out of this. But if we do, one person can never have that kind of power again.

This is so deeply misguided. TLDR- Biden lost because his desire to move past the neoliberal economic consensus ran inflation so high it destroyed his efforts to reshape the economy toward the middle class. the problem is that Hillary lost to Trump running on the neoliberal record of Obama.
