Too many on the left are allergic to the idea of actually winning and having the power to change the systems killing us.
“Rather than taking over the Democratic Party the same way the right took over the Republican Party, we should take the easier route and just start up a new party ourselves!”

One area that I don't hear a lot about is how the increase in water and energy rates from new data centers affects not only residential rates, but also rates for existing industry, particularly unionized workplaces at older manufacturing facilities. 1/2

Our friends at @senecalakeguardian.bsky.social don't post much here, so we are sharing this on their behalf - on Friday, at Governor Hochul's direction, NYS DEC approved a Title V air permit for bitcoin mining at the Greenidge Generation gas power plant.
Please read and share their statement below.

NY dems have been some of the best examples, IMO, of where the party has been simultaneously "engaged in conspiracy to shut down the left" and "hate having to work".

for example, the IDC was behind the scenes stuff to suppress the left. BUT ALSO: eliot engel whined about having to campaign at all.

Solar’s price drop is astonishing: panels are now 98% cheaper than when I first analyzed them in 2004.

Today, building a fence with solar can be cheaper than using wood.

The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.

Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)
CCM (2028)
Rosen (2030)
King (2030)

As long as we're wishcasting who can replace democratic quislings in DC, just want to toss out my unabashed and thorough love for NYS Assemblymember Anna Kelles.
Smartest person in Albany, very courageous, and true to her progressive values. Hope she gets to move up!

A real banner week for Chuck Schumer, given that only a few days ago he refused to back the Democratic nominee for mayor of his home city.

Great job, @schumer.senate.gov. You've changed the story from "GOP hurting millions of Americans to please unpopular, failing, delusional despot who's destroying his party" to "Dems are too weak and divided in the face of Trump's strength to take a stand and protect Americans"

I'm curious which genius Senator didn't put two and two together that the timeline on their healthcare "compromise" means dems will be fighting both to maintain the ACA as well as the impacts of the fully funded Billionare Bailout Bill.
DHS funding next year is terrifying.

I think a lot of the anger this morning stems from a feeling that we did our part, but they did not do theirs. This is an oversimplification, but my dudes, no wonder people are like, “OK, let’s try the democratic socialist, then.”

As Democrats get their votes lined up and talking points ready, it’s important to remember they’re working together to lessen the fallout from their angry base.

In March (see below), Schumer voted to advance the bill but didn’t *technically* vote for final passage.

It’s dishonest bullshit.
"But Schumer and seven other Democrats who voted to advance the bill earlier Friday voted against passing it."

"Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (New Hampshire) was the only Democrat who voted for the bill. King also voted for it. Sen. Rand Paul (Kentucky) was the only Republican who voted against it."

It doesn't actually matter if Chuck Schumer votes for this or not.

If he can't keep his caucus unified to protect healthcare for over 10 million Americans, he should resign as leader.

I'm legitimately confused about the play here. No person who now is going to go without coverage in the ACA is going to just blame the GOP. They will rightly blame the Democrats too. Dems won't get "points" for "fighting" if they cave. It makes little sense.

Following up on this. This remains a ‘cave is minutes or hours away’ situation. If you want to impact how this plays out you need to contact senators literally now. I want to add additional points of context. What I’m relaying is what I’ve picked up from highly reliable sources.
Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

John Fetterman, Angus King, Maggie Hassan, Dick Durbin, Jon Ossoff, Jeanne Shaheen, Kirsten Gillibrand, Catherine Cortez Masto, Mark Warner, Cory Booker, and of course Chuck Schumer. Maybe others not top of mind. Not all responsible will publicly vote for the cave - that's not how this works.

Okay, Ezra is confirming that he's hearing D senators are actually plotting to cave to Trump and end the shutdown WITHOUT any extension of the ACA, just a promise of a vote later down the line.

Call your senators, friends, NOW, and tell them NO DEAL without ACA funding!
