“For the supply of prisoners to grow, criminal justice policies must ensure a sufficient number of incarcerated Americans regardless of whether crime is rising or the incarceration is necessary” - @sdonziger.bsky.social, ‘Are Prisons Obsolete?’

If you're searching for an educational resource to share with friends or family about ICE, I've been using this account to catalogue independent journalism about ICE virtually every day since last April.

A few days ago, I created this feed to gather those articles in one place. ⬇️

Maybe instead of buying Minnesota-themed anti-fash gear from well-intentioned out of state sellers (hello The Onion and those guys with that Hamms design) consider looking up some Minnesota artists and retailers, and buying from them directly instead?

We're all really, really angry and hurting. Also, we can't keep deferring tough conversations about what approaches are actually *effective* at solving cycles of violence forever.

"Throw them all in prison" has become a thought-terminating cliche:

Two women trained as first responders were abducted by three ICE agents. One of the agents starts seizing. The other two don’t know what to do. The women jump into action and save the agent’s life, only to be re-handcuffed and processed.

Breaking: ICE is now reportedly following white people on grocery runs in Minnesota, suspecting they're delivering food to neighbors too afraid to leave their homes.

Neighborhood instructions:

Don't put the address in your phone.

Don't use GPS.

Write it on paper.

And if you get stopped, eat it.

Can’t argue w/ending the filibuster but CIR shouldn’t be seen as the only option for passing good legislation on immigration. The last 20+ years of CIR attempts always included performative tradeoffs for more border enforcement & criminalization of immigrants enabling the conditions that led us here
The only way out of all this is comprehensive immigration reform, which means the only way out of this is eliminating the Senate filibuster. End of discussion. When you hear the word filibuster, think about Renee Good. About kids being detained. Don't let Senators bullshit you about this anymore.

Everyone—of all walks of life and all political affiliations—must understand the urgency of standing up to ICE in the Twin Cities and around the country.

Only a horizontal, decentralized, grassroots movement can rise to this challenge.

We welcome everyone who is prepared to participate.

Thousands of people in the Twin Cities are mobilizing against ICE. Federal agents roam the city attacking people at random—but everywhere they go, they meet resistance.

What happens in the Twin Cities will determine what happens to us all.

Don't surrender to fascism.

This comes up in movement histories over and over again! Despair is your enemy’s friend! Good organizers know this!!
i have been reading Tom Ricks’ “Fighting the Good War” which is a military analysis of the civil rights movement, and one thing that comes abundantly across is that movement leaders and ordinary people made it a practice to refuse to fall into despair and cynicism.
