Is the argument that individuals are supposed to be kind to strangers but if the individuals are part of the government they can be as cruel as they want to be? That doesn't seem to be a very good argument

I saw someone on here say that Democrats won't even take their own side in an argument and it has really stuck with me
With only 59 votes in, enough Democrats have joined Republicans in support of cloture that we can confirm the bill will become law in a form harsher than when first introduced.
