@mtamblyn.bsky.social I migrated to Kobo for Libra buttons, and I’m loving the reading experience.

I’d like to import my wishlist into the Kobo wishlist.

It’d be lovely to have an „import csv” option on the website, or „add to wishlist” api endpoint (I see Rakuten has an ebook lookup api already)

Last month, I gave a talk at the Computer Conservation Society on Lore Harp. Founder of Vector, she was a key figure in early computing.

It's now online. I explore both her incredible story, and how sexism (then and now) has led to her being almost entirely forgotten www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMVc...

This heat wave is absolutely bone crushing. I'm so glad I installed central air two years ago.

But if you're without AC, or you're dealing with a heat wave for the first time because it's reaching areas that don't historically get this hot, here are a few tips from my years of poverty in a desert:

A key purpose of the 1824 Vagrancy Act was to punish magical practitioners; it originally criminalised 'every person pretending or professing to tell fortunes, or using any subtle craft, means, or device, by palmistry or otherwise, to deceive and impose' 🔮

🐙📿THE OCTOPUS BUDDHA & OTHER CEPHALOPODS✨🦑

In the heart of Kyōto octopuses are celebrated at the small temple of Eifuku-ji (永福寺), known more familiarly as 'Tako Yakushi-dō' (蛸薬師堂 the 'Temple of the Octopus Medicine Buddha')🙏

Wrote about this many years ago on Twitter, but your actual goal should be 5 trains/buses an hour - so a 12 minute interval.

This breaks a couple of important psychological barriers for people, based on research by TfL (London's transport operator). Will explain. 🧵 /1
If it’s not more convenient than driving, it will always be your second option.

This is good stuff - really nice breakdown of some of the fundamentals of code review and benefits

I can see this being super valuable for improving research code, but also it’s great as a software engineer to see the foundations laid out clearly and neatly

Code used in research is key to the methods and scientific output and we should ensure it’s not just "available" but easy to verify and build on.

We present a practical tool to code review for scientists 🧪

🤍🌸NOT ALL PINK💚💛

Cherry blossoms are known for their delicate white and pink petals, but there are a handful of sakura trees that show off different colours at this time of year.

Ninna-ji (仁和寺) and Hirano-jinja (平野神社) are good places to see these unusual varieties.

New Tarot deck: Tattoo Tarot Ink & Intuition (mini deck).

I love how comfortable it is. The box opens easily, no pressure required. The cards are small enough to fit into my hand and are easy to shuffle.

This is a deck that is meant to be *used*. I can see it living in my bag.
