🧵1/4: We were founded in 2015 from a coalition of socialists, labor advocates, progressives, and independent voters. Our campaigns included referendums on rent control and community safety, support for undocumented residents, and fighting to make ward services more inclusive and democratic.

Sam Nugent cosplays as a progressive when it suits her. She is not.
26 Aldermen threaten to shut down Chicago's government to protect their Corporate funders. They'd rather increase taxes on your beer and liquor, and push you to gamble away more of your hard-earned money on video slots.

But there is still time to take action!

Ald. Lawson is once again letting us down. The grinch caucus that he’s on is not the future of our city. Raise to the moment & side with the people or be voted out.

42 minutes late, the Chicago City Council meeting is underway, with Mayor Johnson presiding.
The leaders of the effort to thwart Johnson's plan to impose a $33 per month head tax on firms with at least 500 employees are not present.
20 alderpeople are present.
No quorum, the meeting is adjourned.

Don't ignore *this* part:

"the city’s Civilian Office of Police Accountability closed its investigation into the incident “unusually fast” — in three and a half months — and says that showed the city did not “adequately comply” with its duties to investigate the domestic violence accusation."

There's no question that the @nytimes.com has ACTUALLY openly campaigned against Mamdani. Everyone in the city saw it. Why would they be trusted to report honestly on anything if he wins? The answer is they would not.
