Maybe we are still in a wait and see phase but the new Logan Square design seems like it’s going to create a lot of pedestrian/bike and car/bike conflicts. 😔

Yes! LA Metro, with D Line in Beverly Hills and the Downtown Connector, puts a rough estimate at $1B/mi for double-track tunnel, plus another $100M per station. This puts the core trunk line tunnel in the same general ballpark of RLE. Fleet, infill, extra lines, etc. add to that but it’s achievable.
For capital costs...any current or recent North American projects that the #BuildTheTunnel estimates are based off of?

Yay Chicago (?) but this graph is still super embarrassing to look at.
With more than 3B riders, the NYC MTA remains by far America's busiest transit agency

But there was a big shakeup in the ranking of other major transit agencies in 2025, with Chicago's CTA reclaiming the #2 spot from LA Metro and DC's WMATA then bumping LA Metro to 4th place

I’m riding a ton of buses in SF and the all door boarding is something Chicago should adopt immediately.

BART was fun! Send me SF recommendations!

PSA: If you are entering or exiting a bar/restaurant with air gapped doors, wait for one door to close before opening the other. As important as taking your backpack off on crowded trains. Be a good person.

I just tossed some coin to the @mikesimmonsil.bsky.social campaign

Mike is a champion for housing and mobility, the top two line items in most Americans' budgets

Let's pump up his Q4 fundraising!!

Mike Simmons for Congress
Mike Simmons is running for Congress in Illinois' 9th District. We’re building a campaign of and for folks who've been targeted, marginalized, and forgotten. And we’re ready to make some noise.

My residential neighbors did a mostly great job shoveling after this storm, but the strip mall with a gym, post office, swimming pool school, and restaurants nearby is completely uncleared more than 24 hours after the snow stopped. #PlowTheSidewalks

Breathless coverage of one person injured, not killed, on a CTA train, vs. a brief on Page 9 when two people are killed on the road. That’s because road death happens ALL THE TIME - 3 1/2 road fatalities per day in Illinois.
It looks like the number of transit riders killed this year is one …

All the winter cycling videos are popping up.

Reminder: Winter recreation/fitness cycling versus transportation cycling are very different.

Transportation cycling: don’t stress too much. Don’t go out and buy all the gear. Keep riding and address your discomforts as they come up.

Most Americans have no concept of a car free lifestyle and have no idea how great it is.
Right, this is true, but the OVERWHELMING evidence of the past 100 years of American life is that vastly more people want space and a car than a smaller unit and a car-free lifestyle. This is mostly why the suburban share of US population has grown relentlessly for the entire 20th and 21st century
Some people put a premium on space in my experience, others put a premium on not having to have a car and not being isolated out in the suburbs

This is a small snow plow for sidewalks

If your city plows the roads but leaves sidewalks up to property owners, your city hates pedestrians.

Amazing how Meet Me On Milwaukee can double revenue for local businesses but business owners believe doing it more than once per month would make it “less special.”

Car-Free ‘Meet Me On Milwaukee’ Events Will Return To Wicker Park Next Year
The program blocked off Milwaukee Avenue between Damen and Ashland avenues to cars and buses for three Sundays this summer and fall, boosting foot traffic and business activity, organizers said.
