Helping China is within the US best interests. The country has been involved in countless wars mostly in Asia. Helping China will stabilize the East saving the administration money that could be spent improving the US.
All are true:
1. Dismantling USAID will help China in a HUGE way.
2. Elon Musk is leading the charge to dismantle USAID.
3. Musk has HUGE business interests in China & does what China tells him to do.
4. So Musk is dismantling USAID for his own personal profit and to help China.

Probably because Chinese generally don't want to get involved with the affairs of other countries. While Russians are obviously a lot more connected to the rest of the world.
Important to note how muted the response has been from PRC/CCP leaders on the USAID stuff.
Russian leaders, Latin American leaders have been giddy about the attempted destruction of USAID.
The Chinese have the most to gain through the destruction of USAID.
They are remaining relatively silent.

I'm kind of hoping that we keep it invite only just because it gives it a unique feeling of exclusivity where's everyone and their dog will be on threads soon
Bluesky now has almost exactly the same desperate, nail-biting energy that Mastodon had when Bluesky dropped

Sites go down temporarily all the time without people giving up on them. The difference is the site owner usually doesn't pretend that the site failure is just a new permanent policy and call anyone who complains losers. That's the Elon Difference

You're almost right but I believe it's actually Greek μόσχος 'moskhos', from Persian mushk and Sanskrit मुष्क muṣka (lit. 'testicle')
The word "musk", referring to a strongly odourous greasy secretion, comes to English from the Late Latin word muscus. This, in turn, came from the Persian mošk (مشک), originally from Sanskrit muṣka (मुष्क) meaning scrotum.

It is interesting to think how like minded people who get invited to Bluesky are mostly in agreement with each other.
i think people who are expecting this small amount of beta users to "shape the culture" of the website when it goes public are setting themselves up for disappointment. as soon as this place goes public the enteral september will take its course.

I don't think the cypherpunk movement is in anyway politically aligned with right wing.

The thing about Rust I've noticed is they've made a lot of breaking changes since 2015 and maybe I'm not experienced enough but I felt like old C++ code would still work without little effort

Just switched to CauchyOS from Windows on my Laptop and I'm really happy so far. Been using Arch on my desktop for a while but I made the mistake buying a computer that had only released in China and for last 6 months couldn't get Linux working luckily the latest Bios and Kernel fixed my issue.
