Yeah I will say I spent a a lot of my life thinking I was being a sophisticated Marxist by condemning vulgar tendencies which saw particular capitalists and members of the ruling class as evil and the problem. No no, I would say, it is the system! Well, ok, maybe: but also they are evil turns out.

Jeg nåede (selvfølgeligt) ikke igennem halvdelen af de pointer, jeg gerne ville have sagt. Men uransagelige årsager, var folk mere interesserede i hvornår regeringen udskriver valg, end udviklingen af kapitalindkomst overfor lønninger i de sidste 35 år 🤔

Havde min debut i Debatten i går, om ulighed, stigende priser og fødevarechecks. Min hovedpointe var, at når pensionister og arbejdsløse ikke har råd til madbudgettet, er det et resultat af årtiers stigende ulighed, hvor toppen er stukket af, og mennesker på overførselsindkomster er koblet af.

Det kunne man sagtens gøre. Man kunne også gøre noget ved de grundlæggende årsager i mindreregulering af overførsler. Men det ændrer ikke på at det her sænker uligheden og gavner forholdsmæssigt mest i bunden.

Den her ordning favoriserer i meget høj grad de fattigste, og har en ret betragtelig effekt på ulighed (-.18 på gini). Hvis man synes at millionærer har for meget, så lad os skrue på skatten, ikke indføre åndsvagt bureaukrati og besvær for borgerne gennem streng visitation.

Man kan altid diskutere den konkrete regel. Men hvis man først går ned af vejen med at absolut ingen 'ufortjent' må få en ydelse, så gør man en universel velfærdsstat umulig

Millionærer får folkepension, millionærer kører gratis på vejene. Hvis man skal designe en ordning, hvor man er 💯 sikker på at intet rammer forkert, så må man enten acceptere at nogle trængende ikke får, eller skabe et stort, dyrt bureaukrati. Oftest er simpel regel bedst

The murders of Alex Pretti and Renee Good send a terrifying signal to protesters: if you are against us, we can kill you with impunity. This is a classical authoritarian strategy. Increase the costs of opposing the regime to stop people from protesting.

We ran a progressive slate for the Akademikerpension board elections 10 years ago (and won), because we wanted fossil fuel divestment. I don’t think we ever imagined we might one day help trigger a margin call on U.S. Treasuries.
