Weekend Update #171: The Week Trump Helped Putin Commit Two War Crimes
Negotiating Over Ukraine, Europe Must Be There; US Sanctions Again, Really?

Someone explain to me why the men’s names are redacted?
I condemn the hostile actions of the Trump regime in the USA against the people of Poland.

I agree Trump doesn't deserve to be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.

I deplore the transactional and criminal nature of the Trump regime.

I applaud Polish soldiers for their service.

Is UTSD a thing? Unending traumatic stress disorder? Because I think that’s what we all have rn

How about stopping the wholesale killing of Ukrainian citizens and the destruction of the country’s infrastructure? Stand up to Putin!
Trump at the National Prayer Breakfast: "I stopped the mutilation of children. The mutilation. The word is mutilation. They mutilized, you know, mutilation of children."

Who in the world would take them at their word? Zelensky is no fool.
Putin’s representative said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky could come to Moscow if he is willing to meet with Putin, claiming that “russia would guarantee his safety.”

This:
Honestly, I long for the day again when I can wake in the morning and not have to brace myself from some new horror committed by a man and his regime who are feeding themselves on the ruins of public liberty.
🇺🇦🇺🇸 U.S. Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker:

“In the coming weeks, it will become clear whether Ukraine and Russia can reach a territorial agreement. Russia is losing thousands of soldiers per day. Total casualties on both sides may be 2 million. This is catastrophic.”

Oh great. It’s almost buddy-buddy now with the enemy of the USA.

And this is happening on a daily basis, even as Russia claims to be negotiating for peace. And the American delegation doesn’t even blink.
A Russian Molniya drone struck an apartment building in Kharkiv earlier today.

It’s hard to comprehend the mind of terrorists. Imagine this: they launch a drone into the city to randomly hit someone’s apartment, destroy their kitchen, maybe kill them if they’re at home. No military purpose.

And then, back in Ukraine:
Omg electricity is back to my part of Kyiv ❤️‍🩹 i know it is because my sister just shouted ‘woohoo!’ in the kitchen.

Unbelievable.

This:
Chris Murphy: "This is really scary because what Bovino essentially told you is that if you just happen to be present when they are undertaking an operation, if you pull out your phone to record it, the use of force against you is justified. That is not true, it's not what the law says."

This:
Republicans never miss a chance to cite the Second Amendment - until the facts contradict the administration’s cover up. Then they disappear.

We need Republicans in Congress to put country before party and stand up with us now.

This:
‘We need gun rights and small government to protect ourselves from tyranny,’ Republicans said - before citing gun possession and fear of tyrannical government to justify murdering fellow Americans.

Doubtless it’s too late…

“Freedom is not free. We have to work at it. Nurture it. Protect it. Even sacrifice for it.”

Finally!

I am waiting for the NRA and Second Amendment defenders to rise up in protest at the summary execution of a lawful gun owner in Minneapolis.
Chief Strategist for Rand Paul.

Alex Pretti wasn’t a part of “engineered chaos.” He was a nurse who cared about people. An individual. What is “engineered chaos” is what this admin is doing in blue cities to justify invocation of the insurrection act.
