UK food inflation is being driven by climate change-induced extreme weather, driving up price of butter, milk, beef, chocolate & coffee

The price rises in those staples is contributing 40% of overall food inflation

Climate change is hitting peoples' pockets, right now

Five staples fuelling UK food inflation as climate risks rise, study finds
Findings challenge narrative that food price growth is being driven by higher taxes and wage costs

Good references that explain the difference between degrowth and recession are @jasonhickel.bsky.social's Less Is More (2020) and @giorgoskallis.bsky.social's Degrowth (2018)

Loved the @boldpolitics.bsky.social episode with @graceblakeley.substack.com! Only comment it's so important not to equate degrowth / postgrowth with recession! DG/PG are non-capitalist economic systems which prioritise equitable wellbeing & ecological outcomes & make them independent from growth.

The co-deputy leaders have so much to say too: Rachel Millward from 9:45, Mothin Ali from 25:35 www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nw1w...

As usual, the media didn't pay much attention to the Green Party conference. But there is much to be inspired here - wealth taxes, ending privatisation of essential infrastructures and services, pro-migration and diversity, ecological protection ...

I'm deeply saddened by the news that Claus Offe has passed away. He had a profound influence on me as my PhD supervisor and I kept learning from him over the years. Thank you for everything and rest in peace!
