We're delighted to share our Manifesto for a #WellbeingEconomy co-created with our members.

Our manifesto highlights how we can change the rules of our economy, using bold, achievable and transformative policies that put people and planet first. www.weallscotland.org/_files/ugd/e...

The urgency with which we must tackle #climatechange is profound, yet political action and priorities are elsewhere. Government prioritisation of economic growth at all costs is going to cost us the earth... www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/czdrv8m5v4lo

Imitation is the best source of flattery colleagues, we love what you are doing there!

In recruiting our editorial committee, we will seek to balance the group across these different aspects wherever possible. Further details on the journal and how to apply are available via the link above.

Please do pass this on to other colleagues who you think might be interested.

We welcome applications from people with diverse backgrounds including people from the Global South, people early in their career, and people with expertise across all domains and methods used in population health.

We do not intend to publish articles primarily focused on the health of individuals, or on clinical interventions.

The core criterion for publishing decisions will be whether the work is consequential: whether it matters for improving population health. This will include contributions within health improvement, health protection, healthcare public health, and all of the sciences which underpin them.

We are at the initial stages of creating the Population Health Journal, and as such there is an opportunity to shape its policies and approach. We intend to publish a range of article types in the Population Health Journal.

Future editorial committees will be selected from, and elected by, the community we are seeking to create (i.e. by the authors we publish and our peer reviewers).

The Population Health Journal will be a fully open access journal with no fees for authors or readers, and run as a community of practice whereby authors will be expected to contribute to peer reviewing.

We are in the process of creating a new journal for our community, the Population Health Journal, and we are now inviting applications for editors:

I presented some work recently on what a #WellbeingEconomy strategy for Scotland would look like which is available to stream www.youtube.com/watch?v=hXVZ... with the full report here: www.postgrowtheconomics.org/wp-content/u...
What Would a Wellbeing Economy Strategy for Scotland Look Like?

5/5 We theorise that a #WellbeingEconomy can better protect the environment, reduce inequalities, and improve access to the resources we need to live healthily. To get there we need an understanding of power and vested interests, and working collectively to build a movement for change.

4/5 Wellbeing Economies have been proposed as a response to the #polycrisis, not least because orthodox economic are driving climate change, biodiversity loss, inequalities and erosion of democracy. Redesigning our economies is therefore an urgent and essential task.

3/5 …noting the overlaps with work on #Post-Growth economies and #degrowth, but also the points of contention.

2/5 “A Wellbeing Economy is an economy designed to serve people and the planet, not the other way around.” @wellbeing-economy.bsky.social

Great article by @patkane.bsky.social talking about how culture can help us understand and resist the reactionary challenges we face, and imagine better future. We have argued similarly in relation to a #wellbeingeconomy www.nature.com/articles/s41...
