If we don’t slow down, the research enterprise is going to crash, argues Adrian Barnett.

Inkl sehr einseitiger Verantwortungszuschreibung...

Good for them I guess🤷🏻‍♂️

Totally agree (and would add the admin tasks which can be a deluge at times). I'd also add that, luckily, the workload grows over time and one adapts to it (within limits) incrementally – if you'd throw the 5-years-ago me into my current situation, he'd perish pretty quickly.
As a PhD student, I was told that "seniors" are always really busy, though I speculated, I really wasn't sure how this materialized. I'm not yet SSJ3 Senior, just like baby-senior, but one way it materializes is "Death by 1000 cuts" ⬇️

I still have much to learn I guess😉

Yeah, I realize that my hiking-affine, car-less bubble is probably not representative in that respect… Still, I am sometimes shocked how little people (can) walk and what they consider a "long" walk (or even a "hike").

I really can't get over the Nature/Science paper structure with methods coming last… It bothers me every time.

A student complained yesterday that he had to walk for 45 minutes to attend my lecture, because of a municipal transport strike. I kind of laughed it off, because a 45-minutes walk is nothing unusual for me. But now I'm wondering how much of an outlier my attitude may be😉

Offenbar😁 Aber warum eigentlich?

Good point.

Fair enough😁

Is it? I keep hearing that, but as someone who has learned most of his German after my 15th birthday, whose preferred/main language German has become since and who has learned/speaks a few other languages, I would say it's actually pretty simple. Most of all, it's very regular.
One day left to apply⬇️

I'll be filling a PhD position soon. Today I realized that it's quite likely the person I'll hire will be closer in age to my son than to me (so far, this was only the case with student assistants and interns). I guess I've become kind of old…👴

Joah...
