the thing I loved about thps1+2's character creator was that you could dress any character in any clothes and nobody was making articles about how big of a deal it was. it was just the way it is

When I was a kid, I only had the THPS1 demo for about a year before I got the full game. I thought Superman was only 1:30 long for the longest time.

THPS2 has a few issues, with namely big drops being a thing and the post game levels being mediocre at best. Unlocking Spidey is still a fantastic reward for doing it all, it's just tiring doing everything over and over again for mostly middling rewards. Still, it was huge leap from THPS1.

my gut tells me if you try to talk about THPS1 you wind up talking about the whole series, but SSX Tricky can be talked about more singularly. Plus, whereas THPS has a sort of timelessness, Tricky is drenched in turn-of-the-millennium radditude

Reminder that the original plan was for 3+4 to be a DLC to 1+2.
That way you'd have THPS1-4 in one mega package that you could play online with your friends in big lobbies. It was basically going to be an official THUG Pro.

I hope they got as many of the Vicarious Visions people from THPS1+2 as they could. At the very least I hope AndyTHPS is here. Iron Galaxy can do a lot of good, but I don't know that anyone there is deeply involved in the THPS scene to get what the game needs.

THPS1 was the gateway for so many people, and was pretty revelatory on its own. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a lot of people’s favorite. My favorite run was 2, 3, and 2x.

Okay so here's an odd gem out; THPS1+2
Genuinely did great on on keeping the soul and style of the games while improving the visuals, and made the controls feel so much more fluid and fun to play 👌
