TikTok says it’s still working to recover its US infrastructure
TikTok says it’s making progress on recovering its U.S. infrastructure after an unfortunately timed data center outage, which affected the region shortly after the TikTok U.S. deal went through. Last week, TikTok announced the creation of a separate U.S. entity with American investors to avoid a nationwide ban. Around the time of the transition, users reported issues with TikTok searches, watching videos, posting, loading comments, unexpected behavior with the For You algorithm, content, and more. On Monday, the company attributed glitches to a data center power outage, which it said was impacting TikTok and other apps.

My dad’s surgery went well today, and he is recovering.

And my uncle who was in hospice—his next youngest brother—passed away this afternoon.

Holding space for my uncle’s family and my dad’s recovery. Thankfully knee surgery recovery is much easier than some others.

Sad for loss of my uncle Ian.

Oops. So sorry I let slip by an opinion that was based on a post that I didn’t research and fact check.

Take my real excuse as payment: recovering from major surgery.

D&G's reterritorialization doesn't restore original territory - it creates new codes on whatever substrate exists. You can reterritorialize simulation itself by establishing new patterns, constraints, practices. Not about recovering land, about establishing new organization.

It shouldn't matter if you are recovering and healing from mental strain / burnout / mental illness, or something like a disease / physical injury. Both should be treated equally and worthy of time off to recover and heal.
January 27, 2026 at 11:35 PM
This is why sick leave should always cover mental healthcare too. Some states have this in their laws. But we all need to be able to take time away from work to recharge and recover. And that isn't what vacation time is for, sick leave is for recovering and healing, vacation time is for fun.
I paid my therapist a zillion dollars to tell me this, so I’m passing it on to anyone else in MN who needs to hear it:

Think of taking time away to recharge not as not doing the work, but as doing quality control for the work. You’re not going to be able to show up to do it well if you’re depleted

“Bundle up Kyle, you’re still recovering from being sick! 🥺” -People who love and care about me.

I feel ridiculous right now 😖

It wasn't until the Final Days were over and Persephius was finally recovering from the many injuries that led to his death in Ultima Thule that they had time to talk about it and plan for what to do next.

After that, I spent some time on Earth recovering. It followed me throughout my childhood, throughout my time at the academy, and it started to follow throughout my career in Starfleet. It wasn't until I came here that things changed for me. For the better, of course.

I’m getting older and slower and it’s harder to recover
You may not know it but just over a year ago I was recovering from surgery after the worst period of my life

So, it means the world to me to still be able to on a whim pull weight like this
It’s small, but it’s huge
This is bodyweight+100
Grip it and rip it

Unshackled : Coercive Control, Religion in Politics & Secular Neutrality
Unshackled – Coercive Control, Religion in Politics & Secular Neutrality In this open, unscripted episode of Unshackled, hosts Johanna and Christopher sit down for a candid discussion on coercive control, religion’s influence in public policy, and the ongoing fight for secular neutrality in Australia. From the Victorian Government’s inquiry into cults and organised fringe groups, where 80.1% of submissions reported abuse (https://www.parliament.vic.gov.au/cofg-questionnaire-insights), to the daily Christian prayers still recited in Parliament (https://www.aph.gov.au/About_Parliament/House_of_Representatives/Powers_practice_and_procedure/Practice7/HTML/Chapter8/7chap08_2_3), the conversation moves fluidly between policy, personal experience, and cultural critique. The hosts also explore the National Student Wellbeing Program (NSWP) and its ongoing criticism for allowing unqualified chaplains in schools (https://www.education.gov.au/national-student-wellbeing-program-nswp), Emphasising the need for evidence-based, secular mental health support. They reflect on how coercive control, gaslighting, and faith-based power dynamics shape not only individual lives but also political structures. The episode closes with reflections on international events — particularly the humanitarian crisis in Israel and Gaza — and how ideology and identity politics continue to influence empathy, media, and activism. ________________________________________ This episode explores: • Coercive control, cult behaviour, and emerging legislation • Prayer in Parliament and secular neutrality in government • The census and religious identity in Australia • School chaplaincy vs. qualified counselling • Political engagement and civic responsibility • Humanitarian perspectives on Israel and Gaza ________________________________________ Quote: “Policy is theology with a budget.” – Johanna Browne “Neutrality that tilts one way is camouflage.” – Johanna Browne If you or someone you know is struggling after leaving religion, visit recoveringfromreligion.org or https://recoveringfromreligion.au/ Support Groups https://recoveringfromreligion.au/support-groups/ Live Chat https://www.recoveringfromreligion.org/australia-chat-now Support is Free and Confidential. Glad to be alive today after a very harrowing situation irl last year. I’m happy people are still with me to see my growth as a person. I’ve started therapy this month and so far it’s amazing. Lately I learned something horrifying abt family past stuff so I’m recovering well from that.

Be aware that the measles virus also wipes out B cells, the cells that remember prior pathogens and provide immunity when re-encountered. After recovering from measles you LOSE IMMUNITY to prior disease exposures.
GOOD JOB RFK jr!

Off to the doctor's to get told 'yeah you're mentally ill' again- but that also means I should *hopefully* get out into therapy again soon!

I've spent the last few years in survival mode so hopefully this year I can start recovering properly

Man, what a rough month. Mingus has been recovering steadily. He's decided he doesn't like snow.
I have a job interview this week and when I'm not drawing for the Story of Seasons collab, I'm getting back into loom knitting. I'm making the first of a pair of legwarmers.
