Neurotheology reminds me of neuroanthropology. It looks like we are witnessing a neuro-revolution in science similar to the linguistic revolution.

What does this neuro revolution promise in understanding the nature of consciousness? Reducing #consci to mere computation or neural mechanisms?

(My background is one of extensive New Atheist orthodox practice where I ended up repeating a lot of “rational” things that my pre chronic illness studies in neuroanthropology jarred me out of. Ingesting “These are the things a rational person believes” when it’s all vibe coding is the dogma part.)

New research shows that ancient hominids endured periodic lead exposure for two million years, shaping neural resilience, cognition, and possibly language evolution. #HumanEvolution #Neuroanthropology #Archaeology #Toxicology www.anthropology.net/p/toxic-inte...
Toxic Intelligence: How Ancient Lead Exposure Shaped the Hominid Brain
New research suggests that intermittent lead exposure may have acted as a hidden selective pressure in hominid evolution, shaping neural resilience, cognition & perhaps even the origins of language.

Also, even though micro-pheno captures the micro-dynamics of experience, it doesn’t address the broader contextual layers. Approaches like neuroanthropology can complement it on that level. This is exactly why a non-hierarchical, pluralistic framework makes sense.

3/3. Phenomenology and neuroanthropology matter to me here because they show how such constraints are culturally and institutionally patterned and become embodied, leaving traceable effects on sense-making and agency, rather than simply “folding in” as indeterminate background.
