Guns and armor were important for the dreadnought battleship, but so was propulsion.
Between 1910 and 1916, the US shifted between triple- expansion engines and turbines in six classes of battleship before adapting turbo-electric drive in the New Mexico class.

ME: Nelson didn't wear an eye patch.

DAD: How do you know? Were you there?

ME: It doesn't appear in portraits, caricatures or statuary, nor is one mentioned in letters, diaries, newspapers, memoirs, ballads...

DAD: Were. You. There?

ME: No.

MY DAD: So you don't know.

ME: *Sigh*

On Sept. 13th, 1918, two Nassau class battleships steam together (likely SMS Posen & Westfalen). It is either a training exercise or the pair are supporting additional warships in the North Sea.

It's always fascinating when logs contain details of scientific relevance.

On 10th July 1906, USRC Thetis perform a reconnaissance of Bogoslof Island(s) after a major geological event. The hand drawn sketch is awesome.

1905-06 logs will appear soon on naval-history.net

More firepower means more big holes in the ship design.
Several classes of early dreadnoughts mounted six turrets (or more) to increase the number of guns they could bring to bear.
Here are some examples: (Notes in ALT).
