HMS Castor one of Twins from Greek Mythology.

She was 4th of that name the original was a Dutch prize which spent one month in RN service before being captured by French.

The 2nd Castor was also captured by French but for 20 days only in 1794 .

#otd 1939 the Graf Spee engaged by HMS Ajax, Exeter and HMNZS Achilles off the River Plate.

Critically the Graf Spee also suffered damage which limited her seaworthiness and she was forced to put in to Montevideo for repairs. From that moment on she was doomed.
