Kilnshare, that’s it @eastcoastknits.bsky.social!

Unfortunately, there’s no-one near me on there and I’m nowhere near able to afford making stuff with pottery even if there was 😅 right now I’m just looking to test the waters on my ambition and ideas. Polymer clay is way cheaper to flake out on!

thinking about listing my kiln on kiln share to pick up some extra bucks but also… renting the kiln out to strangers when there are so many variables that can go wrong makes me nervous! Anybody listed on kiln share having a good/terrible experience? #pottery #ceramics #kiln #kilnshare

I've been very lucky to find studios along the way that allow me to pay to fire. However, this most recent batch I used kilnshare and it worked fantastic!!

That sounds very expensive to me. There's a website called kilnshare that might help but obvs depends on what's local.

Kilnshare is an amazing resource for having your pots fired. And a lot of studios will let you drop off for a fee. You'd need a wheel and clay. A pit has to be bisque fired first, then you glaze and glaze fire. Hope that helps 🖤

There are glazes you can paint on, and most communities have someone with a kiln who will fire (a website called "kilnshare" can help if there's no pottery studio nearby). Search terms for glazes: "stroke and coat" and "amaco" and "mayco". Talk to the kiln owner about what kind of clay!

if you are doing ceramics i recommend kilnshare over the bullseye one because bullseye has done some shady business and i am constantly prepared to cancel them

(I bought a wheel with the intention to practice and throw away and worry about firing later, but inevitably there’s happy accidents. Will have to contact some folks on KilnShare and see…)

oooo congrats! kilnshare?

Ah JK it's not totally free to use kilnshare cause there are firing fees, idk why I thought it was free 😅

Ah have you heard of kilnshare? Not sure where you currently are but people list their kilns for free use there. There's also microwave kilns but that obviously limits how much you can make, and still requires some home studio space for throwing/building and stuff
