I grow things. Always have, always will. Currently growing and breeding mainly tomatoes, corn and apples way up north with a bunch of cats, dogs and geese. Also pottery & poetry often fall out of me. Neither my brain nor body obey cultural norms. 🇨🇦
Sometimes we all need a snuggle.

Garden season definitely over, pottery season begins again. Reskilling by throwing a bunch of agateware for a studio fundraiser. This new handle shape is excellent.

Got some bell beaker and double bump mugs coming along. Coming back after a summer of gardening, slowly.

Hard to photograph the rainbow mugs,I guess they want a video and spinning.

Clay is M370. Shape is 14th century inspired.

Suspect I'm too autistic to use this advice; between "a picture is worth a thousand words" and everyone noticing different things in pictures it's hard for me. Bonus of alt text is that I can steer attention, but it definitely does lose a ton of contextual detail. To do correctly I'd write pages.
One way sighted people can determine what to put in alt text: Imagine you sent the post or article to a friend, and the image didn't load. What would someone need to know to get the equivalent experience and context? This will help you identify the important details.

Too unwell to get out of bed today except for the bathroom. My cats were helping me rest but they went outside for a break. The air coming in the windows smells like it's going to rain.

This seems useful
The 12th annual international Gender Census 2025 is now open until at least 30th August 2025!

survey.gendercensus.com

It's for anyone whose gender (or lack thereof) isn't described by the M/F binary. It's short and easy, and results are useful in academia, business and self-advocacy.

The first 18 jars/7 roosters. Stewed then pressure canned

Every moment today is a prayer: let everyone have this abundance. Let all regimes complicit in starving people crumble. Let everyone live and heal

I've been ultra overcapacity, and will continue to be next week. Last week was drs appts, this week was loading the roostermobile for butcher, next week is animals to the vet. I'm very lucky Siri is there to keep me in bed otherwise. It would be lonely and awful otherwise.

Been having serious trouble cognitively so no alt text, so no pictures. Sigh.

Scouring cotton shirts (white cotton really is as gross as they say), picking scentless chamomile flowers, and simmering them. Then tannin and alum, then dyeing.

I like working with linen way better but this was an experiment.

I'm mostly ok with "people being wrong on the Internet" EXCEPT folks who share suicide hotline memes without fact checking them. Someone fighting to live may have only enough energy to make one call, and if they're taking that number from your post it better be accurate. Your false info can kill.

I'm always very grateful to my past self for making crates exciting snack sources for several weeks a year kinda randomly. It makes getting the cats to the vet so much easier, they line up to go in. Except Demon, who's a problem.

I have a second slime mold!

It's neat when new creatures come to live here. Especially when they're an indicator of some middle stages of biomass breakdown.

I'm going to call this row of winter wheat a success and plant some more.

Trellises slowly going up. It's very hard on my body but hopefully they stay there once they're in. 7 for tomatoes, 2 for actinidia kolomikta. Concrete reinforcing wire or cattle panels plus t-posts.

I may have dislocated my pinkie slightly.

When I moved here, the first summer the yard was full of clover and the scent of its flowers filled the air. My geese pick the flowers off and mow it short, so one gardening goal was to return areas of clover to the property

Between sealing the house for wildfire smoke and our multi year drought, it's been many years since I've seen mosquitoes swarming on the outside of a window screen. Years, too, since I got blackfly bites in my own yard. youtu.be/qjLBXb1kgMo

Then a road crew. Never gonna complain about someone fixing the road but it's not a quiet morning.

There's a rooster crowing on my front deck outside my bedroom window. They're not really supposed to be there.

More garden pictures: the wild columbine is starting, the aspen borers progress, somehow the birds didn't eat all my sweet ciciley and it's about to flower-- but as you see they loved the borage right beside it. Apparently the ducks are the only animal that can kill borage.
