reskeet this with your home river

mine was the Brisbane River/maiwar, now it’s The Tamar/kanamaluka…both are estuaries
My favorite Twitter prompt was "RT this with your home river," so reskeet this with your home river.

Mine is the Patuxent.

This is carved into the rock on an isolated bit of West Arm in the Tamar/Kanamaluka estuary.

As far as I can tell, it says “Commander” and “1942”. There may have been more of it that no longer survives.

Any local historians have a guess as to who might have put it there?

There was a proposal to change the name of the new(ish) bridge over kanamaluka, which is near where I live.
Currently named after a genocidal white man that even other white people despised.
People lost their freaking minds. It was voted down overwhelmingly. Racism is very entrenched here.

I’m in the North (& slightly horrified to hear Hobart is worse!). We have an awful lot of “we don’t want to be like the mainland” nonsense. Also “rule of law does not apply”!
We live right up at the mouth of kanamaluka and are sometimes down your way. I will remember to shout out next time!

We recently hosted an event at #DesignTasmania in Kanamaluka / #Launceston to introduce our new TLC CEO, Dr Katherine Tuft, to our northern #community. It was a pleasure to welcome both familiar and new faces, and to share the space alongside inspiring works by artists from across #Tasmania.

Is there any difference between the WA black swan & the Tasmanian one?
Being ignorant, I was taken by surprise by the large 'colony'? of black swans on the kanamaluka estuary where I now live.
They seem to have more white on the underside of their wings than I remember the Swan/Canning ones having.
