click on the pdf [save that!] and use its hyperlinks!

Little Zeb Trivia: I drafted 90%+ of this while Ole was asleep on me and battling ear infections. I wrote it all on my phone and just added revisions and hyperlinks at the very end. It was an interesting experiment; we’ll see if I repeat it.

Use icons, symbols, terms, and design patterns that are already familiar to users. People with cognitive disabilities benefit from common behavior and design patterns. An example is the standard convention for hyperlinks (underlined and blue for unvisited; purple for visited).

I've invented a new thing called a "web site" that I'm hosting over at @fragrant.garden's tilde server and I think the concept has legs. Check it out if you are so inclined! matrix.garden/~trunnion/

Oh man, if I'm watching a Youtube video to analyze it, I have to basically mute and read the subtitles. Too much going on otherwise lol. Even then, I vastly prefer written stuff, citations and hyperlinks are my friends.

The screen reader might simply skip the entire URL or it might read it out letter-by-letter. Neither of which is helpful to anyone.

Screen readers do know what to do with actual hyperlinks to actual webpages, which are what happen when you put the URL in the body of the post.

more people who want to curate or review or just write about games should make a basic ass website with a black background and normal hyperlinks and shit

Every Papillon breeder’s website comes from the dawn of the Internet.

This article might be the best example yet of why inline hyperlinks are garbage. They are lazy, inadequate substitutes for citing one’s work. It’s not clear how most of these links support the author’s premises or conclusions.
The article sounds like it was written by ChatGPT, or more likely Grok.

Okay, Reichweite. Hab da auch einen Account. Aber Insta erscheint mir als ebenso seltsam programmiert, benutzerunfreundlich (no Vollbildanzeige, no klick auf Bild möglich, no Hyperlinks, komplizierteste Handhabung v versch. Bildformaten ever, keine echten Threads möglich) wie überflüssig.

I remember when TV Tropes was first launched back when I was in undergrad (pretty sure I found it through Buffy fandom). Just a simple website with a list of hyperlinks about TV shows. We should go back to that.
TV Tropes is blocking access to the site not only if you have ad blockers on but location tracking off unless you want to subscribe to their $5 a month/$25 a year subscription plan. Even people who have turned their ad blockers off are reporting the site isn’t working. This all seems like a bad idea

Removing the hyperlinks completely defeats the purpose of the online encyclopedia. This isn't Web 3.0. It isn't even Web 1.0. This is useless.
It's like high school plagiarism

Wikipedia vs Elon Musk

In a world of algorithms and AI slop, the simple joy of aimlessly wandering through a website of ideas is worth preserving.

how do you do hyperlinks & stuff here

I’m sick of finding interesting articles on videos behind a persons head. No Links. And then having to search out that article via a screengrab. Things were better ten years ago. This isn’t just me being an old man. Text based social media with hyperlinks was better. The children are wrong

strawpage's interface is fucking infuriating but i'm too many hours in to quit on what i'm working on LOL

Yeah unfortunately it's more of a work-around type scheduled posting with a temp server since Bsky doesn't support it natively so I understand why it's paid TBH. But I do like DeckBlue because you can have clickable hyperlinks using it so it makes posts look much more clean for shop promos
