#hausu
Well, I can't see a #PortfolioDay and not make a post for s #PortfolioDay!

With a LOT more to choose from this time, and, looking through my ko-fi gallery, there's a lot of improvement here, too!

Let's not forget about Auntie from House/Hausu (1977). Yôko Minamida did something to me🥵💕

There's a few properties I could say would be sick for this example, IMO:
- "TRON" (no, I won't elaborate... also get Science Saru or TRIGGER for the thing, IMO)
- "Back to the Future" (complete with style shifts for time travel)
- "Hausu" (there was a short manga back when, but I'd love more)
we often talk about “what anime would you adapt into a movie” but here is a reverse: what movies would you adapt into an anime?

Yes, I used to refer to it as Hausu so that the difference between it and House (1985) would be more easily distinguished but then I listened to a podcast where the director said he preferred it to be called House so I changed over 😂

Remembering and celebrating the legendary Nobuhiko Obayashi, wildly unpredictable Japanese filmmaker, screenwriter and editor on his 88th birthday, beloved for his experimental work and most famous for his 1977 cult masterpiece HAUSU (HOUSE).

He was #BOTD on 1/9/1938 and passed away on 4/10/2020.

Watched an episode of LEXX, because apparently Farscape isn't a deep enough cut for me.
This show feels deranged, it feels written by a young child in the way HOUSE ("HAUSU") was.

It's that time of the year when young lady's fancy lightly turns to thoughts of Hausu gifs.
a cat is sitting on top of a fish bowl filled with fish .

House aka Hausu

I can see why this is a cult classic. The constant tone shift between surreal horror and goofy comedy was a bit jarring but the whole thing was great fun. I love the cinematography in this film, you'd never see a movie shot like this nowadays. The piano bit was so cool!

For @starburst.bsky.social #492, I explore why HAUSU (1977) - Nobuhiko Obayashi's kaleidoscopic collision between Sam Raimi's The Evil Dead (1981) and Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! (1969-1970) - is more art-house (or art-hausu?) than haunted house horror!

"House" or "Hausu" from 1977, a personal fave of mine.

I just watched Hausu (1977) on Shout TV! Have you ever seen House of Bones with Charisma Carpenter from Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel? I saw it on SYFY once close to fifteen years ago. It actually reminded me a bit of Hausu.

Eternel besoin d'anoblissement d'une niche. Romero, Hooper, Fisher, c'est elevated. Maniac, Re-Animator, Bava, Fulci, The Haunting, Hausu, Raimi, aussi. Un parasite en forme de bite chez Cronenberg élève autant l'horreur que des pécores paganistes britiches pré-Burning Man! Du cinoche, quoi! 2/2

...I'm just gonna assume that you're talking about the television series House and not the Japanese psychedelic surrealist masterpiece House/Hausu
January 4, 2026 at 8:30 PM
así que por un lado si te quieres ver "The Room" con los subtítulos de 'juanito' o "Hausu"... es el momento.

Por el otro... bueno... tampoco hay tanta distancia con lo que se puede ver en el salón del colega que tiene un proyector.

I really love Hausu (and have a super cool shirt to prove it), so maybe there is something from it into some of my works, but in this case, it should be 'accidental' or subconscious, was not going for that. I was thinking about cool 80s videogame covers
