Takes a lot to take me aback, filmwise, but damn.

When your critic group gets a shout out from the Best Film of the Year.

For as exhausting as this year has been (personally, professionally, and filmwise), this is very cool and I'm very proud of our little critics group for this nationwide nod.

Here's to a cinematically awesome 2026.

I'm going for Alec Guinness - everything from the Ealing Comedies to David Lean masterpieces, with a load of Star Wars (and some absolute 1980s shockers) thrown in filmwise...and then you get Tinker, Tailor, Soldiers, Spy and Smiley's People, too.
It’s probably just Jimmy Stewart. You get films from:
-Hitchcock
-Capra
-Ford
-Preminger
-Cukor
-Lubistch
-Mann
-Borzage
-Stevens
-Daves
Plus at least a couple dozen programmers to watch on top of it.

Maybe loses points for no Hawks.
This is a Bill Simmons game, but you’re stranded on a desert island. You can only have one actor’s filmography. You get it all, including cameos. But just the one performer.

I’m taking Cate Blanchett: Talented Mr. Ripley, LOTR, Life Aquatic, Black Bag, Tár, Ponyo, Hot Fuzz, Eyes Wide Shut, Thor

That's a good song, especially when you've been at it through the years. My income source ends this year, kinda painted into a corner. When this story project was offered, I know I'm the one to write it, a spark has been ignited & whatever happens filmwise, I will have another screenplay in my stable

One Battle After Another really the peak for this year filmwise

1. Rikiya's VA is expensive and also Yuta from 6. Hamazaki's VA has some weirdness around him plus have a black antagonist in an era where Sanseito are targeting "foreigners" is only gonna cause more harm. And Nakahara's VAhas seemed to have retired since he hasn't done anything filmwise since 2022
I wake up at 4am to see how they massacred Rikiya for Kiwami 3?!?!

My poor boy 😔

I love Yakuza 3 BTW, it's my favourite and I've heard rumblings of other changes and tbh if they remove core elements of that game like the Kids it can fuck right off

The Zeffirelli-directed Hamlet is all the Shakespeare he's done, filmwise. Doesn't provide much scope for apples/apples comparisons.

Hope all turns out well, both healthwise and filmwise. x

For the first time, we have Theater and a Movie on the Aunty Sochelle Hour-ish.

Check out game actor and Thespian Will Champion from @twentysidedtavern.bsky.social
And filmwise, #EvilSublet catch @shutyourcakehole.bsky.social on the previous episode... she is killer!

Listening to the din of the neighborhood: unidentified animal chonking, crickets, revved car noises far off

Its dusty from gutter cleaning

Beautiful day

Made tentative plans w one kiddo, still negotiating w the other

Big kid, adult, who chooses final destination over sinners filmwise, tells me..

filmwise sweating modes, and highlights the roles of stratum corneum hydration, salt deposits, and microscale hair. [7/7 of https://arxiv.org/abs/2505.04789v1]

Fredo, Fredo! Such a sweet sad film. I think Fellini's a bit too sophisticated for me. Filmwise I go for comedy, usually Danish, Indian, Italian, French, and Nordic crime dramas. TV shows I enjoy in any language, they give me an insight into other cultures that doesn't go over my head!

I don't dislike Escape to Victory btw. I'll watch it at Christmas or a Bank Holiday. But storywise, and filmwise it's just a rather predictably American story, with Michael Caine and Russell Osman thrown in for good measure.

I mostly shoot b&w but I wanted to expand my horizons filmwise so I'm trying out some color stocks. The Battle Ax one being off compositionally is driving me insane so I will be retaking that at some point.

film: Kodak Ultramax

On TV, I'd put a backdoor pilot for a Mara Jade centered centered show into S2 of Andor, then have the Andor folks make that with a multi-season villain-to-hero arc.

Filmwise, i'd start fresh, using Old Republic. break away from "it's empire and rebels with other names". Let good directors cook.
Genuine question - if you were the new head of LucasFilm, what would you do to revitalise the Star Wars franchise?

Big reason I have such a bone to pick with most new Spider-Man media (filmwise), bc it goes against him being for the little guys, and against law officials and whatnot when they're prohibiting justice. Big part of the reason cops hate him in proper Spidey stories
Conversely, why have 'good guys' become so cringe, so unrelatable, so one-note? Bc 'good guys' are historically portrayed as rule-followers. Law-abiders. Both-sides-ers. For the last few decades, that means that the 'good guys' end up defending the same broken system *that produces the villains.*

Filmwise, yes, shes probably the best.TMNT-wise she’s probably middle of the pack for me.i really don’t care for bechdel or many other imposed rules for writing,If you make the writing/characters feel natural for the story you are trying to tell(MM did that quite well)it should just happen as a result

My favourite show in recent times was SOMEBODY SOMEWHERE which ended recently, one of the loveliest shows ever to be made!

Filmwise, I really enjoyed FLOW, WILD ROBOT and the yacht rock dockumentary

Uhoh gamewise mine was last year but I didn't have a system to run it. Now that I've addressed that issue I'm pretty stoked to dive in to Star Wars: Outlaws. Filmwise, @realgdt.bsky.social 's FRANKENSTEIN is high on my list.

Always down for talking about Bond! I was a major fan of Bond for many years but kind of eased back after other interests came in filmwise. Tried doing a full rewatch of the series around 2020, but only got up to the 10th film and got distracted. Think I'll finally get through all of them this year.

Went to see Nosferatu last night....biggest disappointment filmwise for a while. Over-acting and some bad acting (especially by Lily-Rose Depp & Bill Skarsgård). Highlights were how it was shot, scenery, Ralph Ineson & Willem Dafoe. 6.5/10, probs wont watch again.

King wrote an epic, largely inspired by LOTR, but filmwise that is a huge undertaking. And I don't think we'll ever see a true LOTR out of Hollywood again. Dune is the closest.
