An ad ahead of the newest episode of Fallout told me that it's "a show based on an Xbox game" and now I want to stab people. Apparently video games do make you violent.

Having wrapped up all my writing projects before the holidays means I can spent more weekend time walking through the cold of Toronto's winter.

Yay - the outside!

Canadian economy rallies as #1 export now Heated Rivalry
OTTAWA - Canada's economy, which has spent the year reeling due to American tariffs, is finishing the year strong thanks to the country's new chief export, the gay hockey-romance drama Heated Rivalry.

This is a genuine question about language use and not a complaint:

I've now seen many people and news outlets post that Clair Obscur "swept" the Game Awards.

Does "sweep" not mean "win every instance without losing any"?

I know it means that in sports. (E33 won 9/11 awards).

Interesting read as always from David!

I keep coming back to the fact that two of #dnd 5e's three pillars of play (exploration and social interaction) use "player-driven" turn order and everyone's fine with it, yet when a game tries
it for combat, some folks just totally lose their s***.

Look, i know absolutely nothing about this series - either books, movies, or show - but these titles sound like a helluva #dnd campaign.

Friends wanted to play more Daggerheart after I did a short intro session, so we started a mini-campaign.

When 2024 #dnd came out, I sketched out a series of sequels to the Fouled Stream mini-adventure in the DMG, so I started by running TFS, and will transition to my "sequels" next. Went well!

We have an immediate need for an RPG proofreader. This is a paid gig, proofing just over 11,000 words. Experience is preferred.

Please email jon@handiwork.games with your resume and rate. If you don't have a set rate that's fine - we can talk.

Please feel free to share, tag and recommend.

Well, Daggerheart outer sleeve survived 1.5 game trips in my backpack.

I usually take books out of sleeves for travel, but kinda needed the sleeve to keep the cardbox shut.

In retrospect, shoulda left the card box at home, since the sleeved cards for pregens didn't fit back into it anyway.

Loving Pluribus so far, but (trying to avoid specific spoilers) - how is it that "they" have pilots and medical doctors, and other experts, but somehow apparently not any therapists, grief counsellors or de-escalation specialists?

Saw this meme and it reminded me of how every time I'd use my sorcerer's once a day ability to deal like 80 damage, I'd get called an optimizing powergamer, but the fighter and ranger each doing 3x20 damage every single turn without using any resources was always ok.

As I once explained in my LiveJournal days:
* a 32-page Pathfinder adventure has 20,000 words.
* a 99.9% typo-free 32-page adventure would have 20 typos.
* that’s a typo every 1.5 pages.
* reducing that would delay every book a significant amount.
The truth about editing TTRPGs is that even the best books by the most experienced designers/developers contain way more errors than you think. Not because the creators are bad at their jobs—it just reflects the truly immense complexity of our books. To catch all those takes a huge amount of work!

Sometimes when you have a bottle of water and a box of smarties, you grab the box and pour the candy into you hand before eating. Other times, you grab the bottle of water and pour it into your hand...

This is totally normal. Nobody saw.
