I spent many days aged 9-10 or so reading my uncles' Book Of Knowledge pub'd c1926. It was, arranged thematically not alphabetically. I had a nice talk w John Ashberry after a London reading, because he'd done a short appreciation in the Voice.

2/2 She took up climbing in 1915 when she visited Snowdonia, later climbed in Alps & N America. She met her husband Ivor Richards in Snowdonia, the couple were viewed as climbing aristocracy and wrote a memoir ‘Climbing Days’ in 1935.

Sir William Nicholson (1872-1949) Double Anemones (1921) & Winter Anemones (c1926, nd). Nicholson was an academic painter to his finger tips, his flower paintings however are always enjoyable

He created a number of series including one of toreadors & another of sailors. Reclining Toreador (c1925-6), Standing Man with Cap (c1926) & Large Male Nude with Crossed Arms (1925)

In 1925 Kolle had another exhibit with Uhde & the dealer threw everything at it to make it a success. This happened again in 1926. Sailor Reading (1926-7), Large Still Life (1926), Head of a Man (1926) & Jockey Reading (c1926)
