#artforms
in my mind, appeasing this kind of audience is akin to dumbing down music for the express purpose of being a frictionless backdrop in a starbucks. it's just the same content-ification ray we loudly and rightfully condemn across other artforms. video games should not be an exception
"We need nag lines for players who are scrolling tiktok"

Those aren't players, they aren't playing your game. They're scrolling tiktok.

"They'll miss something and get confused"

How is that anyone's problem but their own? If they want to sleepwalk through life you're not gonna stop them.

thats why im a little defensive of gianmarco but also i really could never be jealous of his success. he seems to genuinely care about standing up for marginalized people, but when you do comedy you are GOING to offend people even more than with other artforms.

It's important to note that even if you play and read dozens of TTRPGs you can still end up vastly limiting your perspective, just as you could with any medium.

You have your biases and artforms do not care about them. They simply proliferate. It's why one should seek options outside their comfort.

I feel like writing is one of those artforms where it feels like...somehow wrong to share it. To plug it. Unless visuals are attached. But I think we should destigmatuze that some!!! Writing is art! It's not pretty to look at like a picture but it's art! Why is it wrong that we share it 😭

One thing I'll never understand about folks who try to control sexuality as a whole...is that it's such a primordial force. Older than words or artforms, and one of the most consequential things we need to do.

Why do we always have to fight for a space for it to be expressed?

Fucking passion bro. If you're not making a video game because you enjoy what you do you shouldn't be making art okay? Well, before anyone gets my words misunderstood, Kojina, a lot of people who take from other artforms are passionate to me.

If I were not all chronically fatigued I could do all of my jobs and gigs and artforms and writings

The Seattle NFT Museum, which closed last year, is looking for a new space to show the esoteric online artforms. But with interest in NFTs fading, prospects aren't clear.

RSVP: Death / Rebirth
A new 'RSVP' series of events celebrating how artists from different cultures and working in different artforms respond to the same theme, has come to Edinburgh Libraries. What an incredible start to the RSVP series! The first event, held in Leith Library, explored the theme of “Death / Rebirth” - an idea that runs deep…

Most other artforms are consistently valued both for their utility as propaganda tools AND for pure entertainment, but for whatever reason the moment there's genitals involved it's too hedonistic for either? ok then...

How ungrateful some of us are. People share one of our most beloved artforms, music, for free on a boring train ride, and some folks still aren’t satisfied.
If you're traveling by train, buy some fucking headphones. I don't want to listen to your shitty music, hear a crappy American comedy, or listen to a conversation with your significant other who's a bigger twat than you.

I doubt it. You can say AI makes art without saying it's good art or ok to make that art. There's lots of bad art and art it's not ok to make in all other artforms

In general the more artforms you know the more connections your brain makes, making it easier to learn further artforms as you notice more parallels between them, its rad!

That's awesome! 🩵 I've been using 1890s patterns from the antique pattern library for my fuse beads. I really love how many artforms can be made with colored squares in a grid.

instructions unclear. picked up 17 different artforms. now feel guilty for not doing every single one frequently despite not possibly in any world having enough time for all of that.

The fact is that more harm is done to these artforms by capitalism than by piracy.

"By changing the ways we consume various artforms and thereby devaluing them, large companies have been limiting the number of workers who can earn a liveable wage from their art. "

i could go on about how "music" for example is a limited Western structure of sounds (chords, rhythms, etc.) which disallows many indigenous forms of sonic expression (Native American drumming/chanting does not fall within its constraints), and how artforms like noise music push back against this.

I like videogames because its one of the few artforms where their work is perceived as valuable within the artists lifetime

One of my favourite artforms is creating friendship bracelets.

One time my partner asked me:
"It looks wonderful, but it took so long for you the make it, isn't there any tool, machinery that could make it for you?"

Kurt Schwitters (1887-1948). His ground-breaking Merzbau, completely misunderstood in its time, is now regarded as the precursor of contemporary artforms like Installation, Environment, Assemblage and site-specific art.
