Test prints have been made. I need to tweak a few things here and there before they’re finished and then I’ll order stickers and throw them up on my website.

A detail I like about WWD 2025 is that while Edmontosaurus will stand their ground, the effectiveness varies. They’re said to be too much for Albertosaurus a third of their size, but a T. rex can just make one lose its nerve and break the entire defensive formation apart.

This sucks, I wanna go back to drawing mosasaurs.

Wow! Thank you so much for sharing, it really is gorgeous and I’m even more driven to find my own copy now. A few of these pieces have been reprinted at smaller sizes elsewhere but it does seem like most of them are unique to this volume. The Albertosaurus and plesiosaur is my favourite, so pretty!

With the year almost coming to an end, let's remember that this year the Tyrannosaurus rex (and its cousin Albertosaurus) turned 120 years since their descriptions.

Great thread.
Also, in my ever so humble opinion, WWD2’s Albertosaurus is the most compelling and beautifully depicted tyrannosaurid in all of palaeomedia.
Before we close out 2025, here is Walking with Dinosaurs thread number 4 (and a bit) – this time, The Pack, my personal favourite episode. It follows the young Albertosaurus Rose as she faces the trials and tribulations of the ancient Horseshoe Canyon– will she succeed? (1/60)

We also meet the matriarch here. She is bigger than the rest of the pack, being based on the largest specimen known from the Dry Island Albertosaurus bonebed – a potentially very old individual estimated at 10m long. (15/60)

This close collaboration was super important (as it was with the other animals) in getting this animal as true to life as possible – down to details like the splay in the outermost toe, the slight twist in orientation of the 1st finger, tooth count, and lacrimal shape. (18/60)

In a really cool shot, Rose ambushes the pterosaurs, and successfully captures one. Her success is not without consequences, as the matriarch claims the kill, biting Rose’s face severely. The subsequent scars are based very closely on known Albertosaurus pathologies. (40/60)

The dimorphic eyes, however, were very much initially inspired by the raptors in Jurassic Park 3. But, of course, was likely in turn inspired by various birds today – hornbills come to mind. To wrap up the design talk, I’m just really happy with how these guys look. (21/60)

A reason I’m fond of this episode is that many of my pitches for story points, character beats, and settings, made it to the final film. I really wanted to treat the Albertosaurus pack like the sea wolves from the Pacific Northwest in the US… (photo by Markus Atkins) (11/60)

Anyways! The next hunt takes place some time later, and this time, Rose must play a very specific role. This sequence is based on Phil Currie’s idea that the smaller individuals in a pack would be capable of herding prey towards the larger and more powerful adults. (50/60)

Ranger Sarah learns that the bone bed found was as big as a football field. Averaging 111 bones per square meter. 85% of the bones were from the Centrasaurus, 6% were Albertosaurus teeth.
