Back to the skies of the Kem Kem, we find one of the many toothed pterosaurs of the region, Siroccopteryx! This critter has somewhat modestly sized teeth compared to it's cousins, and I've illustrated it here with a speculative crest.

An odd bony fish from the Kem Kem, Concavotectum. I'm still very out of my element with illustrating fish, but this fella had some very fun shapes to work with.

The 6-ish metre long Kem Kem crocodylomorph Laganosuchus represents a bizarre lineage known primarily from their elongated, flattened, U-shaped heads.

Just a reminder, that possibly the oldest piece of palaeoart dates to the Neolithic. The petroglyphs of horned characters with trumpets, recorded on the same rock as a ornithischian footprints (Zagaje Formation) in Poland, might be an early reconstruction of the Jurassic tracemaker.

Of course the big paper on Azhdarchoid phylogeny comes out while I'm at a museum on a research visit (looking at Azhdarchoid cervicals, obviously) but now I'm back at the hotel so it's time to write a proper thread! 1/28

After a month or so, we return to the Kem Kem with this adorable critter - the metre-long Araripesuchus! There are many species of Araripesuchus, but the one here is A. rattoides, which sports protruding teeth on the front of the lower jaw.

Our inaugural #DinoConUK, held 2025 at the University of Exeter, was a massive success, with over 860 attendees. We're thrilled to announce that DinoConUK 2026 will be at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole in late July, an excellent central venue. Tickets are not yet on sale but hotel places are.

Thank you for the love on this piece - I was really pleased with it! I thought I would share the WIP blocking out stage of this piece. I find these early stages extremely satisfying.
