Synology has a USB Copy function that allows you to essentially do a one-click backup (you can actually have it scheduled if you keep the HDD attached, but I like to keep them airgapped as worst-case immutable failsafe against power surge / ransomware. Plug em in, start the process, unplug em.

Haha, I did another thing, this time I made a unidirectional communications protocol you may use to communicate from an airgapped cnc server too a web or other server that is connected to the internet via the cnc servers audio line out and and the web servers audio line in...

I think transformers are cool. I want to embed one in Emacs and have it optimize my keystroke stream. On an airgapped box in a SCIF, of course.

I am not advising you to use only everything curl online to get to know curl.

I often work on airgapped servers (they only seen LAN segments) where the man pages of all commands are crucial to have locally.

Use the site as an **addition** to the manpages.

#curl #libcurl #programming […]

gotta speculate that it goes to a lack of real-life-space experience, or having lived with all your activities socially airgapped from each other... the home people never meet the school people never meet the work people. never a pub never a park. get to thinking that is natural and good

People using Windows often have no idea their data is stored in the cloud - they think it is just in their laptop. Unless one is using Linux and maybe airgapped at that, there's no way one knows where one's data is ending up. A co-worker might have put it on Google Drive. It ends up as training data

2/ Airgapped isn't perfect, but it's drastically more secure than stupid devices (the ones that constantly advertise themselves and establish unwanted connections).
February 10, 2026 at 8:58 AM
Tech founder,

You don't have an "offline" device until that device is "airgapped."

And it's not "airgapped," unless it has zero external communication capabilities.

So go desolder the data connections to the RF chipsets -- that includes Bluetooth. Remove ethernet ports.

Plug/cover USB ports.

1) even if it's airgapped and a receive-only technology, speed limits change and therefore will inevitably need to be updated at some point
2) automakers *will* implement this in the worst & most IoT way ever
3) this would be an amazing idea if profits weren't involved or you need to pass on the hwy

are bad actors physically plugging unauthorized devices into your car??? i am telling you it is an airgapped system
February 9, 2026 at 4:49 PM
i am telling you that is not how modern car computers work. no modern car computer is "airgapped"
February 9, 2026 at 4:50 PM
So does Reolink and Amcrest and a bunch of other brands :)

Even if you get something that likely phones home you can keep it on an airgapped network with minimal fuss.

I wanna know why ours and some other little groups on this map have like an airgapped void separating us from the rest
February 9, 2026 at 5:43 AM
yeah if for some reason I needed a security camera then a) it would be airgapped because why does it need internet access, and b) running off like a pi or something.

prior to an election, yes

but states test and certify the machines before they go live, at which point they're locked down and airgapped

I remember that Ohio 2004 mess, things are different now
February 8, 2026 at 6:12 PM
All the individual machines are not airgapped forever, and humans are involved every step of the way, from writing the code, reviewing the code, validating, etc. There are vulnerabilities to exploit that do not require internet.
