This #RandomGameSaturday I put my hand on the linking book and pulled out Myst for the Mac / PC, this specific one for a Mac that must have 256 colors. The fiction and world and tone and environment of this game grabbed me more than the gameplay; I spent hours exploring! It still rules!

I suspect one of my sons, either Sirrus or Achenar, but I cannot be sure. I dare not write further without revealing too much. My only hope is that I can find the answer before it's too la! Left side, in blue handwritey font: "You have just stumbled upon a most intriguing book, a book titled Myst. You have no idea where it came from, who wrote it, or how old it is. Suddenly your own world dissolves into blackness, replaced with the island world the pages described. Now you're here, wherever here is, with no option but to explore..." On the other side there is a typed letter "A MESSAGE FROM CYAN You are about to be drawn into an amazing alternative reality. The entire game was designed from the ground up to draw you in with little or no extraneous distractions on the screen to interfere with the feeling of being there. Myst is not linear, it's not flat, it's not shallow. This is the most depth, detail and reality you've ever experienced in a game. Myst is real. And like real life, you don't die every five minutes. In fact you probably won't die at all. There are no dead-ends, you may hit a wall,but there is always a way over or around. Pay attention to detail and collectinformation, because those are the pieces of the puzzle that you'll use to uncover the secrets of Myst. The puzzles you encounter will be solved with logic and information - information garnered either from Myst or from life itself. * you show up on myst island, and wander around figuring stuff out
* you meet Sirrus and Achenar
* you make your way through four ages, collecting their pages
* once you find all of them, they tell you to get the final page from the fireplace

I’ve only played the floppy disk version of Cyan’s Cosmic Osmo before, so I recently picked up a copy of the expanded Cosmic Osmo and the Worlds Beyond the Mackerel on CD-ROM. It’s also a standard music CD so I imported it and—I’m sorry falling from who??

Finished Myst 4.
Tim Robinson from I Think You Should Leave in the Sloppy Steaks sketch, looking down at the camera and smiling, with the text "I'm not a piece of shit." Not included is the following line, "I used to be," and the point of the sketch is that people can change. That's relevant to Myst 4 because the game is about Sirrus and Achenar, who did NOT die, but were imprisoned by their father at the end of the first Myst in two real shitty worlds because they were absolute dips, just real buttholes. Sirrus was super greedy and tried to destabilize civilizations so he could become their god-king and Achenar liked to hunt and torture people and do scary cult stuff, and both of them were such pieces of shit that the legendary Brad Dourif spent years plotting his revenge on them, and him attempting to take that revenge is the entire plot of Myst 3. Anyway at the end of Myst 1, Sirrus and Achenar's dad Atrus trapped them after they pulled some shit and in Myst 4 it's been like 20 years and Atrus decides to see what those guys are up to and if maybe they've somehow become less trash after living in isolation on a couple garbage worlds for decades. And then you solve puzzles for like 15 hours to figure that out. And, well, people can change. I used to be a piece of shit. But I'm not anymore.

I don't remember the Rime bonus-age from RealMyst being very strong -- but they jus remade it in the newesk #Myst remake and it's INCREDIBLE!!

So many lil details, and I dunno if I ever got Sirrus and Achenar as characters as good as I do now -- did they redo a lot of it? The puzzles is the same
