An excerpt from One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This by Omar El Akkad. It reads: Language When the past is the past, the dead will be found to not have partaken in their own killing. The families huddled in the corridors of the hospital will not have tied their hands behind their backs, lined themselves up against the wall, shot themselves in the head, and then hopped into mass graves of their own volition. The prisoners in the torture camps will not have penetrated themselves with electric rods. The children will not have pulled their own limbs out and strewn them all over the makeshift soccer pitch. The babies will not have chosen starvation. When the past is the past. But for now, who's to say they didn't? Who can truly be sure, but the killers and the dead?

They emphasized that the unprecedented increase in the number of prisoners dying confirms that the prison system is continuing its systematic campaign of slow killing, as hardly a month passes without one or more prisoners being killed inside the prisons. The occupation does not stop at killing prisoners; it continues to withhold their bodies and perpetuates the crime through sham "investigations" in which the judicial system is complicit, with the aim of entrenching policies that lead to the slow execution of prisoners inside prisons and detention camps. As the daily crimes continue, the number of martyrs is likely to rise, given the detention of thousands of prisoners in conditions that lack the most basic necessities of life, and their exposure to systematic violations including: torture, starvation, physical and sexual assaults, medical crimes, and the spread of infectious diseases, most notably scabies, which has returned to spread widely, in addition to policies of deprivation and plunder unprecedented in their severity. They added that the field executions that targeted dozens of detainees confirm the criminal nature of the occupation system, as the pictures of the prisoners' bodies that were handed over after the ceasefire revealed the extent of the field crimes committed against them, in addition to serious and unannounced data about the number of those who were executed. The Commission and the Prisoners Club held the occupation prison administration fully responsible for the martyrdom of detainee Zaoul, and renewed their call to the international human rights system to take effective measures to hold the occupation leaders accountable for the war crimes committed against the prisoners and our Palestinian people. The two organizations also issued an urgent appeal to the free people of the world to stop the systematic extermination of prisoners, release the thousands of arbitrarily detained detainees, and work seriously to impose clear international sanctions that isolate the occupation. It is worth mentioning that the number of prisoners in the occupation prisons has reached more than 9,300 prisoners, in addition to hundreds of detainees held in camps belonging to the occupation army, including more than 50 female prisoners, and about 350 children, while the number of administrative detainees reached 3,368 until last November. --- S.K.

Ramallah, December 14, 2025 (WAFA) - The Commission of Detainees Affairs and the Prisoners Club reported the death of administrative detainee Sakher Ahmed Zaoul (26 years old) from the town of Husan, west of Bethlehem. The Palestinian Prisoners' Society and the Prisoners' Club issued a joint statement saying that the Civil Affairs Authority had informed them of the death of detainee Zaoul, who had been held in administrative detention since ⟨June 11, 2025, in Ofer Prison. According to his⟩ family, he did not suffer from any chronic illnesses. His brother, Khalil Zaoul, is also detained in Israeli prisons. The martyrdom of detainee Zaoul comes just four days after the martyrdom of detainee Abdul Rahman Sabateen from the same town, bringing the number of martyred prisoners whose identities have been announced since the start of the war of extermination to 86 martyrs in the occupation's prisons and camps, which is not a final figure, and is escalating in a terrifying, shocking and unprecedented manner. It is noted that human rights organizations recently revealed data, acknowledged by the occupation itself, indicating that more than 100 prisoners have died in its prisons and camps, while it continues to conceal the identities of dozens of martyrs detained from Gaza, in addition to dozens who were summarily executed. The two institutions added that what the Israeli system of brutality is practicing against prisoners and detainees is nothing more than a systematic extermination carried out with public and explicit calls from leaders and ministers in the occupation government, most notably the extremist minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, who raised the slogan of executing Palestinian prisoners. This is being done in parallel with the practice of slow execution against prisoners, through an integrated system in which various occupation agencies participate, in preparation for legislating the death penalty law in its final form. They pointed out that what is happening inside the occupation prisons has gone beyond all descriptions and expressions, as the prison system and the occupation apparatus, including the judicial system, are working to institutionalize a new post-war reality based on the physical and psychological destruction of Palestinian prisoners, through an integrated system of systematic crimes that constitute an integral part of the war of extermination. These crimes include: torture, starvation, denial of medical treatment, sexual assaults including rape, and the transformation of prisoners' basic rights into tools of repression and torture through policies of deprivation and dispossession, as well as the appalling conditions that led to the spread of diseases and epidemics, most notably scabies, which became an additional tool for torture and killing.
