#RomCom/Slapstick
Some verity then:
Come and Hug Me (son of the killer, daughter of the victim)
Mad Dog (ensemble cast, found family)
Laughter in Waikiki (slapstick comedy, wholesome)
Strong Woman Do Bong Soon (romcom w/ murder)
Weightlifting Fairy (college sports romcom)
Lovely Runner (timetravel, romcom)

This past week we finished Astro Note and it was a cute little RomCom that took me back to vintage anime titles like Maison Ikkoku, Kimagure Orange Road, slapstick/face pulls like Uresei Yatsura and Goldenboy. It's often silly with a big heart and a great cast of characters.

She is so WIDELY clever. Heartbreaking Plague novel, epic Blitz novel, slapstick Wilde novel, romcom

Have you started The Potato Lab yet? It's a very mature slapstick romcom...with potatoes!

While You Were Sleeping! The best coma-related Christmas movie out there! Accurately rated as a romcom, underrated as a slapstick comedy.

65. Palm Springs (2020) A time loop romcom that features Andy Samberg's best performance and great work from Cristin Milioti and J. K. Simmons. A little whimsical, a lot more satire, and a bit of slapstick for extra measure. Do yourself a favor and check it out.

Chatrapathi (Rajamouli, 2005). Prabhas demonstrates his star quality here that would but tonally, it's all over the place: it veers from crime drama to romcom to slapstick. And, naturally throws in song and dance numbers. Rajamouli was only 27 when he made this though. Good uneven fun.

This will make a great movie someday, but choosing the genre will be difficult:
Farce, Slapstick, Historical Drama, Noir, Horror, or Tragedy?
Or maybe a RomCom with 2 male leads.

It's kind of a fine line. I call this one a romcom because it has a goofy feel to it. The Date with the Mayor, she takes his keys and tries to drop them down her cleavage, but they slip into her underwear. There's tipsy bowling, a soap opera character. More slapstick than usual.

I think part of Anyone But You's appeal, despite being a typical romcom, is the comic slapstick from Sydney Sweeney. She's...*actually* quite good at it.

For all this Culture War horseshit centering on her being an attractive big-breasted, blonde woman - I'd *rather* see more of her as a goofball.

Wasteful Days of High School Girls is a bit more subdued, but is a solid successor to Azumanga.
School Rumble's a romcom, but the main attraction is the slapstick between its, mostly, female cast.
Yotsuba&! doesn't have an anime, but is made by the creator of Azumanga, and is an absolute must read.

A greek rom-com chaos, that was at first difficult and tiring to get into, but weirdly enough, soon became quite poetic. #slapstick #wlw #hetero #romcom

Day 156

"The show has a magical, almost Shakespearean ability to transition from tragedy to romance to slapstick comedy within moments, sometimes in the same scene."

I have finished writing my first romcom, and I'm so pleased with it. I think I've finally maybe accepted that I just love romance, that it's my genre, whether the tone around it is fucked up or slapstick or just, yknow, romantic.

Noé Santillán-López’s Mesa de Regalos, the highest-grossing Mexican movie of 2025 so far, a romcom that is in part about wanting to be creative class rather than high bourgeoisie, quality slapstick, worth because the actors are very charismatic and fun. In Mexican Disney+

I can't write right now. I really want to but I shouldn't until I'm finished with a work thing. However, after all the angst of my SS fic, my o!Jm fest fic is going to be ensemble romcom. Like, classic romcom with slapstick and bickering galore.

…as though everyone was in a slapstick romcom [4].

The more organic types of these proposals (where the woman is genuinely surprised) can end in hilarious ways, never well for the cuck who tries to pull it off. I highly recommend watching these videos.
