bite-sized objective kdrama reviews
#TotheMoon is a warm hug of a drama about a group of intergenerational off-hires who root for each other's successes, making their personal goals a priority before romance, and whose lives are an inspiration to those around them.

Ok, #TheDreamLifeofMrKim low ratings, get it. No one wants to watch dramas abt work, esp. w/a petty blowhard whose mo is muttering passive-aggressive snark under his breath. But this drama's shaping up to be a black comedy gem & Ryu Seung Ryong will be getting Best Actor noms for this performance.

If you're not fond of men, watching #TheDreamLifeofMrKim and #LastSummer on their air dates will do you no favors.

Years ago, I heard the term "yelling drama" to describe kdramas where a person or persons scream as part of their regular speaking voice in their everyday dialogue. They're always angry and furious at something.

#LastSummer is a yelling drama.

It would be easier to list the tropes NOT used in #WouldYouMarryMe.

It's a cliche to say that #WalkingonThinIce was an edge-of-your-seat thriller, bc there's nothing cliche about this drama. Can two people deal drugs for good reasons and get away with it? Should they? You'll keep wondering up until the last 5 minutes.

I still haven't gotten over #WalkingonThinIce. This drama did a great job of saying "drugs are bad" without saying "drugs are bad."

Honor your convictions to yourself first.

I've only seen the actor playing cutie pie roles up until this point. While he's still handsome, his character is a bug. I want to smack his face until my hand is sore, then smack him some more. #WouldYouMarryMe #WouldYouMarryMeEp5

I'm not into youth dramas, but #SpiritFingers is a real hoot! I wish they released more than 4 episodes bc this seems like too much fun to wait around for!

Truth is indeed stranger than fiction! #GoodNews was not only based on actual events, but quite a lot of the funny details actually happened (or were reported to have happened.)

#GoodNews pokes fun of every type of archetype and political ideology imaginable using the time-honored technique of portraying a real-life crisis as satire. No one escapes being targeted.

#RomanticsAnonymous is a sweet slow-burn romcom about two anxiety-ridden souls trying to connect w/the world. They're easy to root for, as is everyone else in this chocolate shop world. Mental illness is portrayed in all its facets, and minus a few HIIPA violations, fairly accurately.

If you've followed my journey w/the jdrama #LearningtoLove, you know I was a bit obsessed, but I wasn't the only one. This unconventional romance demanded commentary & the wait for the 1-a-week 45-min ep nearly did people in. The show is best binged, and all eps are out now.

Were there nitpicks for #BonAppetitYourMajesty? Sure. But as someone who had no desire to watch it due to assumptions about the actors, historical take, potential cringe factor, & plot progression, & see them all successful in the end, I'd say it's a rather solid drama overall.

I don't get the comforting vibes people say they get from this show. That small town was downright horrible for her. She should have gotten back on that bus with her little backpack and gone anywhere else.
SUMMER STRIKE - 5/10

Would have dropped it if I wasn’t watching this for a podcast ep. I knew going in the slice of life wouldn’t be for me but even the parts I thought I would like, I didn’t. I also figured out the mystery very early on, I got bored. The 2 romances were sweet though

And like the fool I was for starting #LearningtoLove before all the episodes are out, so was I for #RabbitontheMoon. Here I sit waiting for new episodes to drop on Thursday.
Bc I can't get enough of #LearningtoLove, I decided to try the new-to-Viki thai drama, host-centric #RabbitontheMoon. Wowsers, is it good! An island fling gets another meeting on the mainland when she finds out he's a top host who her client wants for a 10-day trip. He's pissed, for good reason.

One of my favorite pastimes is coming up w/crackpot theories. However, I couldn't help myself, so I had to check out #LaMante to find the answer.

So, while I won't be offering up theories now, I'll start my 2nd favorite pastime: looking for clues from the writer. #QueenMantis

I watched 5 dramas today, and the funniest one wasn't one of the comedies. #WalkingOnThinIce

@rohtweets.bsky.social you might enjoy #Tempest or at least feel it's politically more believable than CLOY. Well, you'll have to buy that Uhm Tae Goo's character is the leader of NK, but...

Say what you will about the mouse channel, they put out some money to get good American-English actors. (I'm assuming the American part was filmed there.) Also, the dialogue sounds natural. #Tempest
