But apparently, modern tech industry just can't accept this as an outcome of an R&D project. You invested into research, so there has to be a direct return on it. So instead of just wrapping it up and moving on, they hand it to marketing to sell, and an infinite loop of sunk cost starts running.

Some time in the past 10-15 years a phase change happened and the industry lost ability to drop a dead R&D project, and it's putting it into an enormous death spiral. Because as more resources are wasted on these bubbles, the less risk they can take on the next R&D, feeding back into the same loop.

Handbag #2 is done. Whew! The batik was much harder sewing than the crazy patchwork one.
I added a zipper that I had to sew through in an already bulky area. Result: 3 broken needles for one bag. 🙄
But it all worked out in the end.

This is the byAnnie bag "On the Go 2.0" One of the test modifications on the scrappy bag did not meet the goal. Originally there was a slip pocket on the back, and if the bag was laid down, a phone could slide right out. On the scrappy bag, I tried making the pocket deeper with a tuck-in envelope flap. It sort of worked. It should at least reduce the number of times that I have to retrieve the phone from the floor on the opposite side of the car when I toss my bag on the seat. On this bag I gave up and put a zipper pocket on the back to make it secure. I figured if easy access to the phone was needed, it would work to just leave the zipper open. It's a nylon zipper so the teeth won't scratch the phone. The bag is actually sewn inside out, so when you turn it the seams want to cave in. I have this stuffed full of books and packing paper to force the seams to relax in the right side out position, makes it look a little funny, like it's going to explode. Back view of bag with zipper pocket and quilted band at top. the front flap is attached at the back and wraps over the top. It hasn't settled yet so it's puffing up in the air a little but it will relax in use. I was originally going to put the quilted strip at the top of the slip pocket but it worked perfectly as the top panel of the zipper pocket. These are the parts and pieces of the bag before assembly. The part on the left is the sides of the main compartment with zipper opening. The top piece is the flap that covers the zipper, it closes to the front of the main compartment with a magnetic closure. It has a zipper pocket and a slip pocket where the quilted square is. The 2 similarly shaped pieces are the front and back of the main compartment. The dark green binding on the front (L) pocket is a vinyl pocket that can hold an ID. The magnetic closure is below that pocket. On the inside of the back (R -not shown) there are 3 card pockets and a loop at the top to hold keys, and the zipper pocket on the outside. It's a very fiddly sewing project.

For many, nothing evokes fall more than fallen leaves. In this view of NGC 6334, glowing pockets of dust and gas in the nebula resemble leaves that have been picked up by a wind gust. This region is actually home to strong winds blowing from the young stars that have formed there. This package is amazing! All I have to do is wrap the most expensive part of my loop into a `future()` and it will add it to a asynchronized queue... no need to squeeze my code into `foreach`/`apply` functions.

Color me impressed. This is so much better than parallel processing used to be in R..

Thundy a black lab walking in the treadmill today. Me: Assuming he does this for you too, which makes me smile. When put the loop on, he holds his leg up for me to put it on and take it off. Sometimes he holds it longer than necessary. I like to think he’s being helpful. R: He does, Thunder is very helpful for us here too! He aims to please! Me: What a silly dog. He's so amiable after all he's been through. R: Very true! Thunder still shows up with a smile every time.

This makes me giggle every time. He knows putting the loop treatment around his leg, but he holds up the leg before and after to be helpful. The device loop is black and blends into his fur, but it’s on. He’s truly the most amiable boy.
