Colotois pennaria - Feathered Thorn. Named after those impressive antennae on the males. What a cracker! #DevonMoths

Yesterday's Feathered Thorn is still on the greenhouse glass. It's probably staying put because it's been raining all day and still is. Now that the trap is out, hopefully, other #moths aren't thinking about staying where they are. #teammoth

Additionally, there was a Feathered Thorn on the roof. #teammoth

Phew! It’s okay everyone, he’s turned up. A bit late.
So all is well with the world. I hope he appreciates the amount of electricity I used in my perseverance to catch him though 😅

At Hollins Hall you know that it’s Autumn when the Feathered Thorn turns up at the window. 🍂

A Feathered Thorn again. Needs must. Time to dig through the SD cards once more, methinks.

Based on my records over the past few years, I have just four #moths left to trap in the lead-up to Christmas. Of course, that doesn't include all the NFG moths I'm certain to encounter! 🤣 #teammoth

It just dawned on me that I missed last week's #MothFaceFriday, so here's a "deceased" Feathered Thorn. Photographing the recent Feathered Thorns has been enjoyable.

This image of a Feathered Thorn makes me think of the movie Coneheads from the 1990s.

Well, I've never seen this happen before. It makes for an interesting shot, though, so I'm glad it did. After I tipped a Feathered Thorn out of a pot onto a leaf, it flippity-flopped, and this is how it ended up, pretending to be dead.

This morning, I almost missed this Feathered Thorn NFY. I found him, concealed behind a house brick, only after searching the trapping area three times. This moth's rich reddish-brown colouring is stunning.

An expected quiet night. 7 of 6 but when that includes NFY in Feathered Thorn and Blair's Shoulder Knot how can I grumble?

Canterbury. East Kent.
Colotois pennaria. Feathered Thorn is the easy one but is the Plume moth Oxyptilus parvidactyla. Small Plume or perhaps Oxyptilus distans. Breckland Plume ? I went for Small but now I’m not really sure.
