Odense Å (river) earlier today. It was this waterway that once made it possible for Odense to become an important pagan cult site, as it connected travellers & merchants with the so-called Odense fjord (*laughs in Norwegian*).

(Also, the MD accent around Baltimore shortens the town of Bel Air, Maryland, to “B’lair”, so several of my friends from there insisted on calling it “The B’lair Witch Project, Hon”, and giggling. My friends are delightful.) “The Tire Demon Takes Another Bite”: A colour marker, ink, and paint pen drawing of a bright green humanoid monster/demon, with long gold claws on their hands and feet, large pointed ears that suggest horns, and large round orange eyes, posed seductively with a car wheel and tire. The Tire Demon (their name), is posed like a 1950s pin-up, except that their pointy teeth are sunk into the tire, which is clearly flat, though still on the wheel (of the car it was ripped from). The Tire Demon is lying flat on their stomach, arms curled around the wheel, knees bent up, so their very long (and carefully tended) toe claws are visible. On the Demon’s left butt cheek, a tattoo of the original Goodyear Tires logo (a winged foot in a Roman sandal, representing the god Mercury) is visible. In the background is a sepia-toned wooden outbuilding, which is the saw shop the previous owner of our house used to do small engine repairs. The tire is black, the wheel hub is grey metal, with silver paint lug nuts. Text underneath in elegant fonts says “The Tire Demon (Buckingham Cryptids) by Laura Mellin Atelier”. Turn-ons: the exploding sound of an overinflated tire, the taste of air from inside a tire. Turn-offs: run-flat tires, no company (or cars!) for years. When we first bought the property where we now live, we, a friend, or garden equipment would get at least one flat tire every time we stayed for the weekend. The Tire Demon is calmer now, and only takes a tire every now and then. A marker, ink, and paint pen drawing from 2020 of five mice sitting on and next to three large orange pumpkins. The pumpkins are arranged with the two larger pumpkins together behind a smaller (but still large) pumpkin that is carved and lit from within. The words carved on the pumpkin are “OÍCHE SHAMHNA SONA”, which is Irish Gaelic for “happy night before Samhain”. This is me being really pedantic about the fact that Samhain is November 1st, not October 31st, just like Beltane, the Spring celebration, is May 1st, not April 30th. Samhain and Halloween (a dimunition of All Soul’s Eve) got lumped together by the Xtian Church at some point when it was absorbing pagan holidays in the British Isles and Ireland. I am ridiculously pedantic about this, and you should not take me seriously. All the mice are grey-brown, with pink tails, paws, noses, and ears. Two mice are sitting on the ground, one on either side of the carved pumpkin, and a third is sitting cross legged on top of the carved pumpkin. There are two more mice, one on top of each of the pumpkins behind the carved one. The back two pumpkins have large leaves on vines curling over the top. It is night, and a full moon is partially visible above the pumpkins.
