**Abstract:** This paper introduces a novel method for dynamically engineering the bandgap of photonic crystal lattices (PCLs) using reinforcement learning (RL) coupled with a digital twin simulation environment. Traditional PCL design relies on computationally intensive, static optimization techniques. Our approach leverages RL to create a self-learning agent that iteratively modifies PCL parameters – specifically, the geometric parameters of the lattice unit cell (period, radius, and filling fraction) – to achieve target bandgap characteristics, such as desired stopband width, central frequency, and dynamic tunability.
