Spread the word to your networks): On Monday, Aug 18 at 2pm, clinicians and immigration advocates will rally at 26 Federal Plaza (Broadway and Duane) to demand an end to the denial of medical care for people in ICE detention centers. Mounting reports of unsanitary conditions, violations of duty care for persons being held against their will, medical neglect, delayed treatment, and preventable deaths point to clear violations of professional medical standards across the country. ICE's systemic violence and detention without due process and in unfit conditions strips away humanity and creates a public health crisis. Organized by New York Doctors, with the New York Lawyers for the Public Interest, New York Immigration Coalition and Make the Road-NY, this rally is part of a broader campaign to shine a light on inhumane detention conditions, with more actions planned in the coming months.
