#Marx’s
There has never been a better time to add value to your life by reading Marx's "Wage Labor and Capital" collection. Do not believe the propaganda. It is about the social and community value of a person's labor and activity being worth more than mere economic output. This importance is your future

"Gold is a wondrous thing! Whoever has it is master of all he desires. With money, one can even allow souls to enter paradise". -- Christopher Columbus, letter from Jamaica, 1503, quoted in Marx's Capital

Wired: Billie Eilish's theory of property
It’s time to put Billie Eilish’s theory of property out to pasture, Richard Epstein and Max Raskin write.

the book I'm reading mentions that too, that Napoleon forced the Jews to abandon patronymics and take family names c.1808, and many people just made their patronymic into a surname,

hence, Heinrich Marx's father was Meier Marx HaLevi (Marx being a variant of Marcus)

Fun fact: Most wrote a simplified version of Capital that Marx himself didn't really like, so he rewrote parts of it. Marx's version of Most's book reaffirms Marx's physiological and transhistorical definition of abstract labour, contra the modern-day value-form revisionists.

so far, among the interesting tidbits I've learned from the opening of this book include that Karl Marx's cousin Frederik Philips and cousin-once-removed Gerard Philips co-founded the megacorporation Philips Electronics in 1891

In addition, historical interpretations of this period in China have been shaped by Karl Marx's writings on this subject. Despite his anti-imperialist stance, Marx often uses racist expressions, such as "barbarous"and "hereditary stupidity," to describe Chinese culture and people.

In Marx’s critique of capitalism, fascism is the response to capitalism in crisis which is why ppl who have read Marx have been trying to warn ppl for awhile. Understanding Marx is not the same as ‘being a communist’ Communism is just some ppl’s response to the inevitable outcome of capitalism.

Right--Marx's explanation of currencies, use-value, and surplus-value makes perfect sense to me and applies here.

What the crypto bros want is to have an untraceable, therefore untaxable, currency that can buy anything they want, legal or ethical or not.

It's dumb shit.

I'm sorry to say "I care more about kicking puppies than expanding my power" is a fundamental refutation of most of Marx's theories even if Kalecki tried to staple them together

Well worth repeating... Reminds me of Marx's observation "For capitalism is already essentially abolished once we assume that it is enjoyment that is the driving motive and not enrichment itself." How can we make it work? www.lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v4...

I can just imagine Marx’s face contorting into a grimace as I try to explain being trans to him… ya know?

Like… he ain’t gonna be based about everything. He’s gonna end up just being A Guy.

How old were you when you found out Groucho Marx’s mustache was painted on? I ask because my mother, allegedly a fan, was surprised to learn this from me just now.

Same question, Charlie Chaplin.

There's also the Manga version of Das Kapital, which gets across all of Marx's points from volume one and two, using the story of a Japanese cheese factory owner. It's a great resource for people who were never going to read the actual Marx version because it's 'boring'
