I love how Reddit AI datamines community subreddits to answer common questions, like “What are fun things to do in your community?”

In my town, its answers are several closed attractions, a hotel known for prostitution, and a tunnel used by the homeless that Reddit describes as “leading to heaven.”

The Land Before Time is a magnificent film, but showing it to a kid for the first time is always A Choice...

Like, I want her to be old enough to not be traumatized, but not so old she no longer appreciates it.

I am shocked that none of the obits for Scott Adams mention his true magnum opus, Dilberitoes, the giant-ass frozen burrito brand he marketed from 1999-2003 on the premise that they contained 100% of your daily nutrients. They also caused some pretty gnarly diarrhea.

One of my New Year’s resolution was 15 pounds down by April, which seemed like a stretch but within reason. Then I got this bronchitis that just refuses to quit and I have to say, goal looking more achievable by the day.

Not the best diet plan, but shockingly effective.

Souper Cubes + a self-heating lunchbox is the easy meal prep combo that I wish had always existed. Making Lego lunches by mixing and matching leftover meats, starches, and veggies and having them come to temp right around lunch time is a dream come true. (❤️ @macaronbaker.bsky.social)

My condolences to Jonathan Ross, the comedian, whose only crime was being unable to pronounce the letter R.

I don’t know if it’s a winning diplomatic strategy, but I think it would be fun if Greenland said they would agree to join the US, but only as the 51st state, and also they would be offering Kamala Harris and Pete Buttigieg as their first senators.

Meet insanity with whimsy, I say.

1) What the Empire did was unforgivable.
2) Bail Organa was a dictator hiding a Rebel base on Alderaan.

Two things can be true!

This morning, my wife asked me to “take a pass at the dishwasher.”

Being a dad of long standing, I went up to it and asked: “So, what’s a dishwasher like you doing in a kitchen like this?”

It did not respond.

I bought some translucent purple filament for my wife’s new 3D printer and I think it is Canadian. It keeps curling in cold weather.

The messaging on Venezuela from the administration is so transparently bonkers. It was a “law enforcement operation” so they don’t need congressional approval, but also we are running Venezuela now and will be appointing someone to essentially run the place by proxy?

THIS. This place is becoming a circular firing squad.
Ruminating on some of the recent high profile pile-ons here

We gotta have private accounts here, like, YESTERDAY

I never much cared for the U.S. Congress when it existed, but now I miss it.

Two things that have been almost invariably true in my lifetime.

Democratic leadership will be worthless.

Resistance to injustice will nevertheless foment around and be driven by Democrats.

Suddenly a bunch of my ads are for prepper shit, which seems ominous.

It is upper 60s all week here. Winter is cancelled, we are stuck in endless autumn hell.

I’m sure JD will stand by this same standard when it comes time to return the Tate boys to Romania.
What JD Vance really means by this is that Maduro is bound by US laws but Trump is not.

“Alarmed”? Because we stole their Ukraine playbook and actually made it work?

I’d be alarmed to if I had to face Putin after that.

My wife got me the Nintendo Alarmo, and for an alarm clock made by a toy company it is weirdly good. The selling point is that the alarm stops when you get up (or snoozes when you just wave at it), but my real fav is that it dims when there is no motion, so it doesn’t keep me up at night.
Do people outside of TV and the movies still use alarm clocks? Or does everyone pretty much use their cell phone.

They are actively trying to build a nuclear power plant in the middle of the already slowly desertifying Texas panhandle so that they can power an AI center that draws more energy than the entire island of Manhattan.

No, I do not thing the water thing “is bullshit.”
the water thing about genAI is bullshit but the thing where it makes on-demand nudes and CSAM isn't and the thing where it talks you into killing yourself isn't and those seem pretty bad

10 days ago Little Bit had 0 trains.

Then we went to the Polar Express and got a small set.

Then I found a listing on marketplace for a box of track/terrain

Then I unboxed my 3D printer.

Now “The Neighborhood” has overtaken our library.

I don’t know who’s more excited, me or her.

Until tonight I did not consider myself a superstitious man, but a friend at this New Year’s party just acquainted me with the superstition that you should not clean on New Years or you will “wash away a loved one.”

And if my wife will buy that excuse, I’m beyond superstitious. I’m ultrastitious.
