#HexGrid
Good news!

Although not a TTRPG at all, I did enjoy some of the SPI hexgrid wargames of the 70’s, some of which were about an invasion of america (Invasion America and Minuteman) and others nato/warsaw pact battles, or even a near future War in the Ice.

Have people covered them yet?

Carr et al had a similar idea - applied to color encoding - back in the 80s! (From www.jstor.org/stable/2289444, paywalled…)

I use my banner for a lot of things as well.

Hexgrid pattern maps are useful like that.

The timeline for Votoms Battle of Stanrey hexgrid metal miniatures is 1 year before Battledroids/Battletech, so that's a possibility.

Games Workshop was planning a mecha anime miniatures game before deciding on power armor scale space marines

Is the giant hexgrid still under the "ALL" header? I liked that one.

For our hexgrid in "The Blackout Project" video game, i was told to use hexsides for rivers. After reflections, it seems to be a good advise.

a hexgrid is still very useful for keying locations, dividing regions, certain large-scale effects, "X per hex" type rules, measuring distances, and so on

Stolen without shame because...fuck, man. I knew it was gonna happen since the second she was killed off. But, it feels so silly since its just her originally powers plus shields and sparkles.

Not the same thing, but there's a pretty good quality game called Sunderfolk where all the classes are genderless woodland critters. It's a weird combo of D&D and Jackbox. Hexgrid fantasy combat & roleplaying but everyone controls it with their phone and you only need 1 copy per group.

Are there dry-erasable stamps? I could see a dry-erasable hexgrid and various stamps ruling. Specially because you could also make little drawings on the map, or references to notes

Years ago, someone gave me a great Penny Arcade T-shirt. It says, "You had me at hexgrid!"

Game designers (and fans of NES Wars) You ever think about how an offset square grid does everything a hexgrid does and also is easier to draw?

My wife and I played Ecos the First Continent, her second time. Despite her Lions repeatedly eating my strategically placed storks, I still managed to beat her by 8 points. And I finally got to play Mount Kilimanjaro!

Won #EcosFirstContinent on 2025-07-13 with 2 players, winning score: 90 #bgstats

Making a #BrachyrSystem adventure for #eternalttrpgjam July is going shockingly smooth.
The only problem I'm having is finding something to make a hexgrid battle map that's usable by an utter noob. Everything hex for rpg is region, everything map is square
