I always get a special buzz when fungi hunting if I find something that is ID'd as deadly. Today I located the quite scarce but highly toxic stump rotter Funeral Bell (Gallerina marginata) for a second consecutive season in Moussels Wood, Bucks. The name tells all that needs to be known.

I thought this wasn't possible but I got on top of the gallerina!! Thought there would be nothing behind, I was surprised to see a green dinosaur wonder what that could be referencing 🤔 oh and yes you can pet them.

Saw a new #mushroom today! My app identified it as deadly gallerina / funeral bell. Which can look really similar to wild enoki. Yikes 😬 This is why I'm happy to stick to #photography and leave the foraging to the experts! #fungifriends

I've never foraged them because they are so lovely to look at (and I never trust that they're not actually Gallerina marginata that has lost its skirt). These are great pictures of the various stages!

Gallerina was suggested, but possibly also Flammulina Velutipes which are edible. Obv, I do not advise eating a mushroom based on this as there are many characteristics to look for to differentiate deadline Gallerina from Velvet Shank (Flammulina Velutipes). Google differences if curious!
